1993 lexus gs300 trunk release latch not working

A trunk lid is secured into position using a latch and striker similar to those used for the hood and doors. The striker is a U-shaped piece of metal fixed to the trunk lid. The latch is a mechanism that hooks around striker and holds it tightly until the latch release lever is pulled. Latch release levers can be actuated electronically via a solenoid and switch or mechanically via a cable and handle. The most common failure item with electronic systems is the solenoid actuator which is typically integrated into the latch itself. For manual release systems the most common failure items is the cable which tends to snap internally, especially if there is a problem with the latch such as binding. Accessing the trunk area to replace the necessary parts can be tricky if the trunk won't open; in these cases I'd recommend trying to open the trunk with the key (if it has a lock cylinder) otherwise the back seats will need to be laid down or removed in order to get to gain access. Your going to have to try and crawl in there and get to the lock mechanism itself. If it doesn't open with the emergency release cable its going to be a pain. Obviously its jammed up somehow, to free it up without damaging anything will be a struggle. A long screwdriver with some pressure in the right spot on the lock itself while a assistant operates the release may do the trick.

if there isnt a trunk release beside front seat or in glove box. then in the trunk where the latch on the lid meats in the middle there should be a square hole put a screw driver in and turn it shouyld open.if there is a cable going to the latch then there is a openning latch somewhere in the car sometimes you can pull on the cable itself and it will release. hope this helps

Did you try with the key? The keyhole is in the top left corner in the trunk by license plate (opposite to the camera lens).
Also, make sure the valet button in the glove compartment is released (or pressed)

If the vehicle has onstar you can call them or bring it to the dealer. they should be able to override and/or fix the alarm.
