Car choking and stalling when slowing down

I have a audi a3, during a say 10 minute drive the car will choke a few times and when slowing down it stalls. I have taken it to the garage and they have replaced the fuel filter and the 'Temp sender, clip and seal and still the problem persists. Please can you advise. Kind Regards

You might need the coolant temperature sensor replacing or you might need the throttle body parameters resetting (you will need suitable diagnostic equipment to do this like a bosch kts670) and the throttle body cleaning.

let me know if this helps

cheers mike

SOURCE: car over-revving then stalling

check your idle air control motor or the throttle position sensor.

Alot of the new cars have a electronic motor that controls the butterfly valve in the throttle body, that could also be faulty and would require you to get a new throttle body, not cheap, but not outrageous in price most of the time.

If still not sure it would be best to take it to the dealer, they have specialized scanners and other tools that most regular shops do not have.

SOURCE: Why does my 91 VW Jetta stall out and lose power while driving?

I had a similar problem and the mechanic diagnosed it as a problem with the ignition coil. So you might want to get that checked.

What you should do is check for spark when the vehicle stalls. If you have no spark then you probably have a bad ignition module. The other thing is You didn`t mention if the check engine light is coming on.If it is then have the codes read.Even if it is not you should still check the codes.Sometimes the computer will have a code and the light will not come on.This could give you a clue as to what could be causing the engine to stall. You might also want to check your fuel pressure just to make sure it is good. The pressure should be 52 - 59 psi.Hope this helps.Good luck.

In cold weather, my car is slow to start and has stalled a few times. What should I check?

You don't say what make of car but it's about the same for all. Your problem is the choke adjustment. The choke raises the idle when the car is cold and after warm up drops to normal. You are doing the chokes job when you hold the pedal down, once its warmed up the choke no longer functions till cold again. So check the choke and the high idle speed adjustment. Simple fix. Hope this helps mike

When i give the car gas in wants to stal out and wont go

here are a few things that can do that to a car, the first and most important is the gas pump which could be breaking down, loosing psi. Secondly your plugs might need to be changed, etc plug wires. And the last thing is if your electrical wiring is damage it could cause current to break down while the veichle is driving causing it to stall .

You have a bad idle air / idle sensor. Your car believes that you are in idle at all times so when you come to a stop the engine floods. When the fuel evaporates you can drive again. Drove me crazy when it happened to me.

So she does. If it carbureted then check the choke, it electric or heat operated from the exhaust.
What happen whent it get cold. There the thermoal spring in the choke cools down make the butterfly on the coke close. install new electric coke or a kit for the manifold head coke control.
