Question about 1996 Toyota Camry
My car hesitates the first thing in the morning when accelerating. It does do it the remaining of the day only on that initial acceleration. It runs great, lots of power, idles good not problem, starts great. The car runs great but just has that initial hesitation when attempting to accelerate into traffic. I've had factory plugs installed, had a knock sensor code and R&R sensor, EGR valve was changed about 18 months ago along with the VSV valves. Any though would be appreciated.
It sounds like a dead spot in the TPS (throttle position sensor) it is the only sensor that is subject to physical wear (1996 its old replace it) also the 02 sensor is old too.

Check the timing and compression of the engine. It sounds like you either have a blown head gasket or a the timing jumped.

It sounds like you may have picked up some small debris from the bottom of the gas tank when you ran it empty. You may need to run a fuel/injector cleaning solution through the next tank of gas to clear the debris and consider changing your fuel filter too. Sea Foam is a great fuel additive and I recomment trying it full strength. Hope this helps!
