2007 335i bmw rear passenger side window stuck in the down position

The rear passenger window was rolled down then up. When it stopped at the top a clunk was heard. The window was rolled down about halfway and all by itself came all the way down where it remains. When the switch is activated there is no motor sound evident.

SOURCE: window won't go up or down

our window regulator is driven by plastic pulleys and wire cables.  They brake all the time.  You will need a new regulator for the window.  They are not cheap and it takes some kowledge to remove the door panel.  It is not like the olden days There are no tracks to put it back onto anymore.  Bmw has had numeorous failures when going to this design as well as other manufactures

SOURCE: BMW 328i 97 top will not go down , weird thumping sound

1st Scenario
The noise you are decribing can be from the driving gear from one of the electric motors could be worn down in which case you will have to get it replaced the best place to get a cheap second hand one is at a scrap yard.

2nd Scenario
If the trunk still wont open then the loose cable you are describing has snapped you will know witch cable because if the roof lid is open check for a button on one of the right lid catch which tells the car the roof lid is now closed and secure so the trunk is now allowd to open. If this is the case replace the cable.

To alastair bda if this does not solve your problem I have sent you an e-mail with further questions to investigate your noise problem. I will be waiting on your reply.

SOURCE: BMW X5 Original Stuck Window

hi there

there are three things that would cause this problem

1. the window motor is bad
2. the fuse that controls the window is blown

3. most common is the window switch its self

this is the most common cause
if the motor was going out it would make a noise or go down very slow but going down is easier then up so thats what makes me think switch or fuse

SOURCE: 1997 BMW 528i The passenger side front and rear doors won't

I had the same problem on the rear door of my 1998 528i and it was the door actuator that had gone bad. I had to take the rear seat out to get the door panel off. Once I had the door panel off it was not that difficult to replace the door actuator.

How does a manual top work on a 1998 BMW 323 I??

I believe you do this in this order. Roll windows down, release the latch at the top of the windshield, raise the front of the top, release rear cover by pulling the latch near the rear seat, Pull up the back of the top and then pull up on the rear cover. The back of the top should now fit into the opening under the rear cover. Continue to fold the top into this space. Push down on the rear cover to lock (won't be able to open trunk if not engaged.) To raise it, release rear latch cover, open rear cover and pull top out of opening. Raise rear of top so you are able to now close the rear cover, set rear of top down on cover and then pull fron of top down and engage the fraont latch. Hoe that helps.

Without it coming down I won't be abl to get the bolt to get the regulator out. This is my fisrt time doing it on my own. Please help. How do I unbolt the motor? Any manual way to put the window down?

I just recently purchased a 1997 BMW 328i. I found a red strap protruding from the underside of the rear seat and pulled it. After some research, I realized it's the release arm for two cables that...

There are 2 motors that have to be put back in place one for the top & one for the top cover... If you have reconnected both & still have problems you can resynchronize the top by rolling down all windows, hold the top button in the close position before turning the key, turn the key on and wait for the windows to close & the red light to stop flashing.

If this doesn't work pull the release arm, manually lower the top, (to get into trunk the passenger side of the top cover needs weight on it to engage micro-switch to release trunk lock)

reconnect motors, hold the top button in the close position before turning the key, turn the key on and wait for the windows to close & the red light to stop flashing.

FIRST YOU WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE REAR PASSENGER INTERIOR DOOR COVER TO GET TO THE WINDOW MOTOR. ONCE REMOVED LOOK TO SEE IF THE WIRE IS STILL CONNECTED TO THE MOTOR. IF IT IS, DISCONNECT THE WIRE. ***IF YOU HAVE A MULTIMETER(OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO DOES) WITH THE IGNITION SET TO AUX, OR ON IT DOESNT MATER, TEST THE POWER COMING FROM THE WIRE. IF IT READS 9.5-12+V, THE POWER IS GETTING TO THE WINDOW MOTOR AND STOPPING, YOU NEED A NEW MOTOR. IF THERE IS NO POWER COMING FROM THE WIRE, YOU WILL NEED TO TAKE YOUR CAR TO A SHOP. IT IS NOT A FUSE SINCE ALL THE WINDOWS RUN OFF THE SAME FUSE AND RELAY.

**IF NO MULTIMETER IS AVALIBLE, TAKE A 12V POWER SOURCE (CAR BATTERY) AND RUN THE POWER DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY TO THE WINDOW MOTOR. IF THE MOTOR RUNS, BAD WIREING. IF THE MOTOR DOES NOT RUN, BAD MOTOR.

Power window switchs on 1996 gmc jimmy

Inspect or replace the window lock and unlock switch on the drivers door power window switch. There is a lock and unlock switch that will disable the switches to the other power window in the Jimmy. Check to make sure that switch is in the unlock position to have the other power window switch to work.
Thank you for suing fixya and good luck.

If you have a multimeter you can go to the underside of the master panel in the drivers door and independently check the switches for voltage or with no power to the switch assembly check for continuity. Good place to start. If you get continuity to through the switch then you need to check power to the window actuators in the doors.
