My starex van won't start. The model is 2006 CRDi, automatic diesel. I'm so happy with the performance until I experienced that it was difficult to start it. But once its running, it runs pretty good. Until finally, it will not start at all. I brought it to two mechanic shops already. Here are summaries: The first one, a Filipino mechanic shop. They changed the following parts: fuel filter and sensor crank shop. It turned on and test ran. It ran very well. But when they turned it off, it did not start again. After 7 days of working on it, they still cannot fix make it start. The owner started looking a Hyundai Starex repair man. It seems it was beyond their expertise. I had it towed and brought to a Korean mechanic shop. In the Korean mechanic shop with a scanner. According to the owner of the shop, the scanner showed that problem was the pressure pump. So the the pressure pump was replaced and once again the fuel filter. It started and went through a long test run. Similarly, when its running, it runs pretty well. When they turned if off, they again could not start it. They cleaned the fuel tank and all the lines leading to and away from thee fuel tank. After 4 days of working on it, they still cannot start the van. The Korean gave up because from his scanner, there is suppose to be nothing wrong with the van anymore. His mechanics were saying that it could be the electricals but he didn't want to touch it becaue the scanner is showing that there is nothing wrong with the electricals. I had he van towed back home. What is wrong with my van? Why wouldn't it start? What else can I do? When its running, its running smoothly and the a/c is very cool. Please help.
My friend had a similar problem. When he had it checked, he was told to spray staring fluid on the air filter and it started. So, he was told that if it starts by spraying starting fluid on the air filter, the problem is with the fuel pump. If not, the problem is electrical. So far, my friends starex diesel AT is running smoothly. Hope this will help you. Cheers.

How you solved the problem
Make sure your fuel lines don’t have a small hole if it can suck air as it sits over night it’s bleeding back to tank also it could have a low pressure safety for oil pressure. It will only start once it senses pressure.
Hi, check or pressure test the low pressure pump inside the tank, this pump support the high pressure pump, and also the pressure sensor at the fuel rail.
SOURCE: Hi Guys I have 2004 starex crdi van ,,before one
I would start by spraying starting fluid in the air cleaner. If it starts you will know that it is a fuel problem. If not then it will be an electrical problem.
