Overheating, replaced fan, thermostat, and cooling temp sensor. Fan won't come on and it still runs rich in warm up mode, also checked fuse to engine fan and replaced?

my husband did everything that everyone else did that had this overheating problem. It was so weird that my engine cooled at a light and heated up going down the road. I have a north star 4.6 engine and this is natorious for happening. my check engine light also came on and so I had a diagnostics done which told me my #1 injector wasn't firing , car ran like **** as well. After putting in a new water pump and plugs, ect. and realized injector was good a friend told him we could have a blown head gasket. So just to see if this was the problem I went to buy a bottle of glassbeads and the auto parts guy told us to purchase a bottle of BARS STOP LEAK BLOCK SEALER NOT RADIATOR BUT BLOCK SEALER $31.99 . He followed the directions and we waited 24 hrs. before driving it. What ever the problem was has stopped my car runs like brand new and I am loving it again. no over heating no injector problem, runs great.......I hope this helps. I know its probly a temperary fix but its a fix and now we know what the problem was. SASSY
SOURCE: engine cooling fan not coming on
It may be the fan itself. Try to find the plug going to the fan, it should be close to the fan and might plug diresctly into the relay. Use two jumper wires straight from the Bat one from the pos+ side and one from the neg- side and plug them into the two holes in the connector the fan should start WATCH YOUR FINGERS. If it starts its elec prob before the fan if not its the fan.

If the fan is coming on late, it would nearly reach overheat, then after fan cuts in, the temp should go down. Temp sensor sends a signal to the computer, computer sends a signal to the fan relay, relay completes circuit and turns fan on.
Fan should go on at or just above "normal" operating temp and should be on full - time when a/c is on. Sensor may be slightly out of range, but, I don't understand why shop when testing did not see this and finish the repair....Sensor is not expensive and isn't a terribly difficult item to replace.
Personally, I've found that a problem like yours is more often caused by a partially obstructed radiator...many times flushing goes around not through the obstruction and does not correct flow problem.

you've got a possible blockage in the head or block.

You didn't mention replacing your water pump....that is what it is if you have NOT replaced it.

I have a 1990 rather then a 1999. I also have the smell of gas under the hood from running rich? which is common to engine not coming out of warm up stage? I replaced the relay also and still fan don't run, and still overheats. Thanks to Dennis Weid i located the cooling sensor and replaced. I also by-passed the sensor with paper clip in cooling sensor plug to no avail. Vehicle runs real well until I sit for extended time then overheats. Vehicle passed emissions last saturday but over heated at end of test. I'm baffled???.
