Has new starter, alternator was tested, passed no problem, my alternator is just not charging the battery, ive cleaned up all my grounds, hooked alternator wire to fuse box and put it direct to battery and still one wire to fuse box, nothing changed, hooked back up to stock specs, stereo is un hooked, but when i put ground on battery and theres a spark, not a big one but still looks to be a draw maybe? theres clocks and what not too so? i drive it and no change at all just kills batteries, i had my cluster out of car and fixed (just bulbs) the wiring from alternator to the clip from the wiring harness has been cut and tied with themselves together with black tape, does it need to be straight one wire for those? and my tension was ceased but i got unstuck and theres lots of tension but the tension isnt moving when car is running? could that be the issue or one of them?

I found the problem YEAH. It was the fuse that is in the side of the fuse box under the hood, Its where the battery wire from the alternator connects thru a fuse to go to the battery, Its one hundred and something volt fuse. It took care of the problem instantly.... Thank you all for your replies...

turn your vehicle on, disconnect the battery, both terminals(while truck is still on) if it dies on you, then either the alternator is bad or wiring is wrong. if it stays on, then you may have a bad battery or voltage regulator. Check the voltage on the battery before you turn it on(should be from 11.5v-12v), when you turn it on if the alternator if working properly you should have around 13v-14v.

there is a fuse in the output line of the alternator, but the colors you describe don't sound right, the only way you could find if one of these wires is ground would be to connect a multi-meter or battery continuity tester to ground and touch each wire(make sure battery is disconnected first) with the other lead and see if its grounded

I am about to have the same problem with my 2002 ZX2. My shop called the Ford dealer and they can replace it for $450.00...
seems like an awful lot for a battery cable.

I'm sorry, I have to ask, this is an automatic right? That out of the way, Does the trans shift different when you drove it with the Vss unplugged when you had the ohm meter on it? 8.5 volts? Something sounds wrong here. I'll have to look up the wiring diagram before I can say thats a bad reading but it should be battery voltage (14 volts running) or 5 volts?
