My Honda Civic with an automatic trans. rolls backwards on hills

f you are on a steep enough hill your car will roll backwards auto or not. if you are not on the gas the engine is simply not making enough torque for the transmission to keep you from rolling.

No you don't if it's automatic. If it's a stick shift you can as well it's easier to pull the trans and motor together

run the fault codes and look for TCM or reverse servo/solenoid problem

the cv shaft is not installed correctly and is not ingauging the splines,its grinding because the transmission is going around and your trying to put it in park

Yes your original computer is set up for automatic transmission. You will have to get a computer out of a manual trans car and you wont have the problems.

The answer is pretty easy, the transmission has failed, have it checked for forward clutch failure.

I would say, yes, if the transmission dipstick was up or missing, water went down the dipstick tube.

check motor and trans mounts.
