My Honda Civic with an automatic trans. rolls backwards on hills

My 2002 Honda Civic with an automatic transmission rolls backwards on hills when the brake is released. It rolls quickly and doesn't stop until the brake is pressed. Shouldn't the automatic transmission hold the car in place until the gas is applied?

My Honda. Civic automatic 2005 exe rolls back on the hill when in gear.why is this It's do e 37,000 miles

f you are on a steep enough hill your car will roll backwards auto or not. if you are not on the gas the engine is simply not making enough torque for the transmission to keep you from rolling.

Do u have to pull engine and Trans on 2002 Honda civic to replace engine?

No you don't if it's automatic. If it's a stick shift you can as well it's easier to pull the trans and motor together

Yes your original computer is set up for automatic transmission. You will have to get a computer out of a manual trans car and you wont have the problems.

Are transmission problems a known issue with civic?

HI yes they are and if you are notorious. find a good low mileage Japanese for around 300.00 -500.00 6month warranty they work great and you will save big dollars

My 2002 honda civic Ex coupe will not move forward or backward when in gear.

The answer is pretty easy, the transmission has failed, have it checked for forward clutch failure.

Transmision problem

I would say, yes, if the transmission dipstick was up or missing, water went down the dipstick tube.
