Have a 2003 Monte Carlo which I am getting intermittent starts. it will start for a day or two and then not start for a week and the start again. had the Starter changed and still got the same results. Had mechanic check the wireing and nothing different. Had security systems disabled same results. They now changed the body control module. Started three days in a row and now it will not start. Anybody hear of anything like this?

The ck engine light should not be ignored, what sensor was shown to be bad ? Have it scanned again and replace the sensor that is bad if it still runs rough you might want to consider a tune up. Plugs, wires, fuel and air filter's and clean the throttle body with some gumout. It could also be the IAC motor Idle Air Control. Good Luck

this vehicle is equipped with a factory anti theft system if when you try to start the engine and the anti theft light is on then the starter won't start even if your check engine light is not on you would have to scan the body module to pin point the problem to see if it's the anti theft system or the starter, go to a auto parts store like auto zone or pep boys or western auto these store offer free scanning to there customers. if this information has been helpful please let use know good luck

this only occured when the ambient light sensor turned on the headlights when it got to dark. if that is happening then check the headlight switch, the one that also dims the interior lights. mine had a burnt connector and fried the circuit board. replaced it and it works good. check for lose wires and connectors in there as well which likely caused the short.
I'd suspect a sticking injector--car should have set the check engine light. Read the code(s) to progress further. If the coil pack were a problem, it would not be likely to fix itself. If the codes indicate an injector problem, try an injector cleaner in the fuel--worst case, replace the bad injector. The codes should indicate which cylinder to change the injector.
