I really hope that when you were doing this job that you relieve pressure from your cooling system you have trapped air in there that needs to be released the only way they release that air after that job is electric car run until your fans kick on by themselves then your system has been thoroughly thoroughly Purge of air

Deposits clogging the little holes inside the engine. Have you put any of that "fix it" type products in your coolant system? most of them tend to clog systems up. Does the water look like its circulating when you look into the radiator?

My 2002 saturn boils over but does not overheat sometimes i will drive across town and all is fine sometimes i will drive 7 miles and reservoir will boil over.im guessing thermistat water pump or cap

Of the water is boiling them it has run hot. There is no way around this fact. Get a compression test done first. This should reveal if any damage has been done. Then address the boiling off problem. This can be a air pocket in the line, incorrect anti freeze mixture, sticking thermostat, water pump, cap, etc.

I've been working on a 1997 Suburban 1500, It

After you replaced the thermostat did you run the engine with the radiator cap of for 20-30 minutes? If you did not then chances are you have an air bubble in your cooling system. If you remove your radiator cap and run your engine for 20-30 minutes that should solve your problem. Be sure you have extra water or coolant on hand when you do this because you may lose some during this process. If you want you can look in the tips section of this site. I have a step by step instructions as how to do this on there. I hope this helps you out.

Its me AGAIN. Same car same problem. I changed my water pump, flushed and back flushed my radiator, and changed my thermostat. The engine ran nice and cool for 2 days and now we are back in the red with...

A bad cap will definately cause your problem. Put a new radiator cap on and your problem should be gone. The cap controls the pressure in your system (usually about 15 lbs) and for every pound of the pressure the boiling point of your coolant goes up by 4-6 degrees.

1999 vw passat overheating coolant boiling in resivoir when i loosen the cap it boils more and over flows out of the bottom of the resivior

Most likely you have a faulty Thermostat. If you know where the thermostat is a quick way to check it is to remove it and see if the problem continues. If not, buy a replacement thermostat and install it and your done. If the problem continues then you have a bigger problem that need a mechanic for diagnoses. The thermostat is usually located on the upper Radiator line where it connects to the motor.

Well my car allways over heats and coolent leeks out of the radiator cap its not the thermostat. What can I do

If it is leaking out of the radiator cap, then that means you need a new radiator cap. Your cooling system in your car is a sealed system. Sounds like your radiator cap is not sealing properly and when the cooling system is not longer sealed then the temperatures cause the coolant to boil whereas coolant not subject to the atmosphere does not boil. Start there.

Good Luck

OVERHEATS AFTER THERMOSTAT REMOVED

take fan belt off so water pump does not turn. take thermostat housing off. make sure water level is close to top of thermostat housing (inside) start it, look for air bubbles... If you get them it is due to leaking headgasket, this will be the cause of your overheating and I suspect it's pushing water out too... Just a guess with the limited details.

This an engine coolant temperature fault, most likely caused by a defective thermostat, probably one that is open all the time.

Cold and no heat

This is a common complaint for the 4.3 v-6 by GM, what happens over time is air gets into the cooling system, usually a small coolant leak at the intake manifold gasket. Ait gets in the cooling system and starts electrolisis. From this the coolant starts to solidify. If I'm correct your heater core is plugged. Remove the radiator cap (engine cold only) and inspect the coolant. The proper color should be red. If the elctolisis is taking place the coolant will turn to rust and look like mudd. If you find mudd in the radiator, most likely the heater core is plugged. This is a very expensive repair. You'll need to remove the raditor & sent it out to be boiled out. Replace the heater core, thermostat and the coolant hoses. You'll also need to perform a "prestone" flush. You may need to flush the cooling system monthly until the system is clean.
