I have a 1982 Suzuki GS650GL and I just changed the spark plugs. I gapped them correctly I think and the engine now idles very rough and will die unless choked. However after its been choked for about 30 seconds it will run and drive fine then it smells like smoke like a woodstove. Any advice helpful!

SOURCE: Ford Escape 3L 2002 Rough idle

generally, when the engine is washed, water gets trapped behind the spark unit and stays there, creating a shorting path for spark plug current. best to dis-mount the spark unit (follow plug wires back to source) and dry and clean it thoroughly.

SOURCE: Starts fine, Idles fine, Drives Fine for a while

you might want to chk. the crank sensor and or cam sensor. sounds more to me that it could be fuel problem. chk. fuel pressure. pump could be on its way out. don't be fooled by hearing the pump running as they sound like they are pumping but there not, at least not enought pressure to keep it running. pressure should be around 50 p.s.i.

Why would suzuki forenza stall at a stop

Turn the ignition and start the Suzuki Eiger. If the engine has difficulty starting or will not start at all, there may be a problem in the electrical or starting system. Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug and remove the spark plug from the engine using a spark plug wrench. You can replace the spark plug or use a wire brush and gap tool to clean and re-gap the spark plug. Insert and tighten the spark plug, reattach the spark plug wire and try to restart the engine. Remove the battery cables from the battery and attach a battery meter to the battery. Observe the amount of charge the battery is holding and if the meter has a test feature, test the battery to see if it will dispense the correct amount of power. Clean the battery contacts with a wire brush and reconnect the battery cables. Check the oil, gas, transmission and brake fluid levels on the Suzuki Eiger. If there is not enough gas in the ATV, it will not start. Checking the fluids regularly to see if there are any leaks or if any of the fluids are dangerously low. Top up any fluids that may be low before you use the ATV. Adjust the fuel idle mixture screw on the Suzuki Eiger's carburetor if the engine is running rough. Inspect the air intake and exhaust pipe for the Suzuki Eiger. Any blockage in or on these components can affect engine performance. OBD2 PROMOTION FindOBD2 com

2001 Chevy venture intermittently running rough.

Check air filter. Check for any vacuum leaks. Check condition of plug wires. Were new plugs pre-gapped? If not, make sure the spark gap is correct for your vehicle.

I changed my front 3 spark plugs and a broken wire now and i have very bad rough idle and i could hear clicks? whats going on? should I put the old ones back on? the new ones were bought from...

The spark plugs should be matched up with the old ones to be sure that are the same as the new spark plugs and that the threads are not too long or too short and if the spark plugs were pre-gapped or if they need to be gapped, and the auto part store should have given you that information along with any spark plug gap because some spark plugs you can not set the gap on or they will be damaged. The spark plug gap should also be printed on the emission label out under the hood. Also, the other three spark plugs and wires should be changed to complete the ignition tune-up.

The spark plug gap should be the same amount between all of the spark plugs, and the farther apart that the gap is between the spark plugs the rougher the engine will run and idle, and the closer that you get to the same spark plug gap between the spark plugs the smoother the engine will run and idle.

It is also very important that the spark plugs be connected to the correct terminals on the coil pack or the engine will have a severe mis-fire and it will set a mis-fire DTC (Data Trouble Code) and cause the check engine light to come on.

Here is a firing order diagram to help assist you and let me know if need help with this diagram or if you require any further assistance.

2002 accent stalls and has a rough idle

During rough idling, when the clutch is released due to high rpm of the engine, the engine may stalls. Another possible reason due to quick release of clutch pedals.

First tune the idling of the engine. Look for the cleaness of the air filter, Fuel lines are clear for free flow. Check the spark plugs for free from carbons and gaps are maintained correctly.

When slowing down the car change to appropriate gears and netural the gears when about to stop.

You are correct in saying the gap. Call a suzuki dealer, ask for service and as what the gap should be. Your problem is more than likely not having set the gap. Before you change that gap, if you can, measure what is now vs/what it should be. You will need a feeler gauge. Grainger sells the, so des NAPA.
