I have a 1998 chevrolet s10 2.2 liter engine. I have changed the coil packs, ignition mog, plugs, wires,EGR,IAC,FPR,knock sensor, fuel filter. I don't knw what else to do. It boggs out real bad when It warms up but is fine on cold start. When it warms up real good it boggs out to the point it shuts off when I push the gas and I try to start back up and it does but just for about 20 sec. If that. If I let the truck cool down it will start up fine but repeats the prosess of bogging out and shutting off when it gets back warmed up ??????????????

Sounds like you may have a clogged catalytic converter. You can try removing the upstream o2 sensor so exhaust leaks out, or separate the exhaust somewhere before the converter.

Idle air control , air intake or emission system would be my guess. . Do the maintenance like new air filter, clean the MAF and TB and see if it gets a bit better. These are the cheapest things to try before you spend more money on it. It’s a good idea to check all your sensors and grounds. Make sure they are clean and functioning properly. If you clean everything and it’s still behaving badly and stalling when warm, then check your ecu for faults. A simple ground fault or cracked circuit can cause issues. There are many possible causes, you’ll have to check things one at a time and rule them out. Best of luck.

SOURCE: 1989 ford f150 w/ 5.0 liter..... engine light on

I would check the oil pressure of the engine. The reason is the timing chain tensioners are run with oil pressrue. I think your timing chain tensioners are leaking down when engine is getting to operating tempature . The oil is thinning down as warms up , as it should to lubercate . I would check compression and do a cylinder leak down test on all the cylinders. Then if the compression is good and the cylinder leak down is good. I would change all the timing components, ( chain, timing gears, timing chain tensioners )

Good Luck , I hope this helps.

Sounds like something getting warm/hot as engine warms up. Could be the MAP sensor, Coil/Coil pack, Ignition Switch(not the key cylinder), or possibly the Oxygen Sensor.

Next time it does this, pull a plug wire out of the coil pack and hold it close to the tower, and have someone crank the engine to see if your still getting a spark.
Could also be a loose connector on the throttle body injection, or a broken wire.

depending on mileage, but possible tune-up could fix it. if already done then check ignition coil pack and ignition wires also spark plugs, check vacuum hoses for leaks or porous, last injectors clogged - use some techron fuel injector cleaner (wal-mart has them). Also get the throttle body and iac valve cleaned by throttle cleaner . Also this other possibilities are to be checked and confirmed.:---- Engine running rough or misfiring can be cause by the following:

1.Defective spark plugs
2.Inadequate spark/coil, defective spark plug wire.
3. Lack of compression
4.False air leakage.
5. Faulty fuel injectors.
6. Insufficient fuel pressure.
7. Contaminated fuel.
8. EGR valve that is leaking.
9. Oxygen sensors.
10. Throttle position sensor.
11. Manifold absolute pressure sensor
12.Mass Airflow Sensor
13.Idle air control valve

--------- This should help.Keep updated.Thanks.Helpmech.

Yes the plugs are under this plastic cover which is your coil and pack and ignition module. The filter is located directly behind the fuel tank.Just follow the fuel lines.Make sure and blow all the dirt out first. You might want to use some rust penetrent.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Regardless of age, battery discharging first needs to be addressed and fixed - bad battery or something in car (like a light) may be staying on when car is shut off.
Fuel pressure is too low - should be around 50psi and may be caused by an intermittent fuel pump or regulator problem.
The cause of the other problems is usually with the IAC or MAF sensors or the EGR valve - fouling at the EGR, IAC and/or throttle body is to be expected for a car this old.

1999 Ford Taurus mechanical problem

Hello,
your problem appears to be the idle control motor located on the air intake manifold it is a small motor that goes bad quite often. Other items that can cause this is a bad /clogged air filter or a tune up (spark plugs and wires), or clogged fuel injectors. to clean the injectors you can buy a container of fuel system cleaner and pour it into the gas tank and as you drive it cleans the system.

Once the fuel system is cleaned via a tankful of cleaner & gas then the idle controller motor would be next on the list to be replaced.

Good Luck !
