We have replaced the timing belt, battery , alternator, spark plugs, spark plug wires, ignition coil, fuel filter. It will fire but not start. We dont know what else to do. My son said before it died that he heard a ticking sound.
SOURCE: 1985 Plymouth Reliant, spark to coil and plugs will not start, fuel goes to injectors
It has to be valve timing, so check the belt, it has jumped I bet
SOURCE: Car is starting but not turning over
if the timing belt is not turning than either your starter is bad and not throughing out the start gear or the flywheel is bad and not recieving the startere gear to turn the motor over. because the timing belt should spin when turning the eng. over...

THE TIMING BELT IS WORN AT THE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY.THE CRANKSHAFT WILL TURN THE ACCESSORIES BUT NOT THE CAMSHAFT OR TIMING BELT.
SOURCE: 1993 Plymouth Voyager will not crank
Remove the Distributor cap and watch the rotor as you crank the engine. If the motor is turning over and the rotor is not moving then you have a broken Timing belt. If this is the case the Belt broken while the engine was running. I can tell you from experience, I owned one of these and mine did the same thing, Every valve in the head is bent. The good news it is not hard to replace on your own and it can be done without removing the engine. The bad news you have to remove your head and have it serviced by a shop.

It has fuel . I filled it. As far as timing goes, my husband checked it and he thinks its ok.Distributor also changed.
I am referring to valve timing not ignition timing.
spray carb cleaner in the intake... It will start the engine for a few seconds. If it does start the engine running for a few seconds, you have fuel delivery issues.
