Hi,
There has been known issues with the alternator on several year/versions of this car. If memory serves me right, there was a TSB for the alternator either over or undercharging. The TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) specifies replacing the alternator and re-flashing the PCM.(Powertrain Control Mudule).
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi,
It might have a partially blocked fuel line or ait intake supply.
or the fuel sensor might be malfunctioning.
Try to check the compression, it might be loosing compression when you demand the engine to move the vehicle.

Engine temperature spikes when a car is shut down and many cars have an extra switch for the electric fan that will turn them on if the temp rises past a certain point.
That switch may have failed, making it necessary to allow the engine to cool off.
Your car may not even be equipped with that feature so I would suggest trying the following:
When restarting soon after shutting off, slowly press the accelerator pedal completely to the floor and don't let up on it until the engine fires.
Allow at least 20-30 seconds of cranking before giving up on it.
The engine may be getting surplus fuel because of a problem with the computer or a 'cold start valve' that lets the engine draw more fuel when cold so starting it 'hot' it may be getting too much fuel to fire (flooding).
