Check your battery and cable and ground connections. check also your alternator belt (drive belt). Have your battery checked at any autoshops.

Hi,

There has been known issues with the alternator on several year/versions of this car. If memory serves me right, there was a TSB for the alternator either over or undercharging.The TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) specifies replacing the alternator and re-flashing the PCM.(Powertrain Control Mudule).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi,
It might have a partially blocked fuel line or ait intake supply.

  • Try to check your fuel filter.
  • The seive on the fuel pump.
  • The fuel injectors might be dirty.
  • The air cleaner might be clogged
or the fuel sensor might be malfunctioning.
Try to check the compression, it might be loosing compression when you demand the engine to move the vehicle.

SOURCE: 2003 kia sorento will not re start after running around town

Engine temperature spikes when a car is shut down and many cars have an extra switch for the electric fan that will turn them on if the temp rises past a certain point.
That switch may have failed, making it necessary to allow the engine to cool off.
Your car may not even be equipped with that feature so I would suggest trying the following: When restarting soon after shutting off, slowly press the accelerator pedal completely to the floor and don't let up on it until the engine fires. Allow at least 20-30 seconds of cranking before giving up on it. The engine may be getting surplus fuel because of a problem with the computer or a 'cold start valve' that lets the engine draw more fuel when cold so starting it 'hot' it may be getting too much fuel to fire (flooding).

My dome lights and my odometer lights are out and wont come on when i start my car. What can i do to fix this?

first and easiest to check are the bulbs, do this with a meter since they are so easily misdiagnosed , if that checks out ok, look for a bad ground,, use the meter to see if power is even getting to the sockets, if not,, look for an offending fuse thats blown, if fuses check out ok, your going to have to backtrack the power wire until you find the bad connection or break in the wire

I put a new car stereo and system in my car. Now the parking lights won't turn off. Is this a security mode on the car? Or is it from the wiring? It is a 2006 Kia Spectra EX.

Usually the brown wire is for illumination. If you have supplied power to this wire some how it will keep these lights on. If you got wiring schematics with the stereo recheck your work.

2003 kia optima battery light came on and headlights went dim and then out but high beams still work, dash lights are dim and the car still runs.

The alternator has stopped charging for some reason.
First check alternator drive belt is ok;
Check dash 'battery' (or 'ALT') light illuminates when ignition on and motor not running- if not, check 'ALT' lamp is not blown and connections to alternator are ok;
If all above ok, the alternator may be faulty.

I tried to fit a new stereo and when i did the dashboard lights went off and now i have no outside temp, or warning lights basically the whole panel has gone off, i've checkd all the fuses and they are...

I bet you sed the black wire with a tracer stripe (or similar wire) as the ground for the after market radio. The OEM radio uses this wire to dim the light to the radio when you turn the headlamps on. Now it dimmed the dash lights and other stuff totally out. Fasten the aftemarket radio's ground wire to a chassis ground on the dash's metal frame. Don't splice into the OEM dimmer wire. Better yet get a OEM to Aftermarket pigtail that uses your OEM connector. These come with a simple diagram as well.

Kia spectra wont start

it is probably the starter assuming the engine isnt locked up. I would check to see if you have battery voltage at the starters solenoid wire with the key in the start position if you do i would check the fuses and starter relay
