Based on the symptoms you have I recommend that you have an AC repair shop hook up a set of AC pressure gauges and see if the system is low on refrigerant, if it is the compressor will turn on and off often and that affects the idle as the load is quickly put and taken off the engine. If the system pressures indicate a low system charge then you have a leak, the leak must be repaired before any more refrigerant is added.

A mechanic would check for voltage at the ac compressor and the freon charge when the ac stops working.
If the compressor is cutting on and off the idle speed will change.

When the engine temp looks normal on the gauge but you get no heat inside unless your keeping the RPMs up by driving it,It usually means the fluid in the radiator is very low.wait until it is cooled completely and remove the radiator cap and fill completely,Check resovour and fill to correct level,

sounds like a restriction in the coolant bypass and or heater core. you will want to check if both sides of the heater core hose near the firewall are hot on both sides if so you have an issue with the air ducts but if not then you may have a failing heater control valve or a restriction.

SOURCE: My 2004 Sebring heater only blows warm air when

1st check the coolant level. If it's low, what you describe will happen. If level is ok, let me know, and include info on engine temp gauge--how long to warm up, is gauge at warm up low temp range, normal, or hot?

Why when I start my car is there an odor coming from vents that smells like something is burning, and my Air Conditioner still blows, but it only blows out hot air. 2008 Chrysler Sebring. Help?

have an accredited ac shop as an ac cannot produce hot air only cold air so that means that the ac is not working (leaks low on gas etc). The hot air is from the heater in the car and the smell is probably wire overheating or the resistors are burning.

Low freon will cause the compressor to short cycle, when the compressor runs the pressure in the low line is pulled down and the low pressure switch turns it off. Not running the pressure builds up and turns it back on. In the old days there was no low pressure switch, with no freon to carry the oil the compressor was destroyed.

Air conditining starts out cold then after 5-10 minutes begins to blow hot air. It will work again after the car has been off for long enough to melt and drain frost.

You really need a set of gauges to properly diagnose the A/C system, this is a web page that has pictures and explanation of the problem, iceing up the evaperator is poor circulation or blockage,

I have a 2004 2.7 6 chrysler sebring lxi. ac blows really cold and periodically just starts blowing warm air. is there a relay or temp. sensor that might be going out and through a malfunction shuts down...

Cooling fans working? If you notice the air getting warm mostly while stopped, probaby cooling fans not turning on. if the fans are working properly, may be low on freon and need a recharge.

When you turn on the heat--hot air blows out for a few minutes than it blows out cold air. What could cause this????? 2002 chrylser sebring convertible.

low coolant level can cause this condition, when the engine is cold, check your coolant level. if it is full you may have a bad head gasket, have that checked by your favorite repair shop
