Voltage at fuel pump

What should the voltage be at the fuel pump? I am only getting about 5 to 6 volts... I have found the fuel pump relay module under the hood next to the fuel vapor canister but I am not real sure how to test it as it is not a traditional relay nor do I have a schematic... I am not getting any fuel to the engine...

    I have an Evaporative fuel system which is the much more expensive fuel pump assembly, so I would like to test everything before getting to that... I have already removed the cover plate in the back of my discovery to expose the fuel tank and top of the fuel pump. Which wires in the two plugs are the proper wires to test for voltage and how much voltage should there be? Just from using some logic I am guessing power is delivered to the fuel pump relay "module" then to the inertia switch then to the fuel pump.?.?. Are there any other relays or fuses other than the relay module that is located next to the fuel vapor canister?

Fuel pump voltage should be 12 volts or as near to it. relay has a voltage drop, 5-6 volts means there is a bad connection, faulty earth or a connection wire, could even be the relay,, check the earthing wire follows from the pump or make a new earthing connection. clean the earthing points on the shell from the batter, put some grease over the connection when clean and tightened,

There is a safety switch that can be reset under the hood on the passenger side under the fuse box panel.

fuel pump relay is usually under the hood and should be labeled.often the relay is the same type used for other operations on the vehicle - look for numbers to be the same on the relays then switch them to see if the problem is the relay. if the relays are ok then this sounds like bad ground somewhere. Any water leaks on the vehicle of spills that could start corrosion of a ground wire. good luck

Make sure that your inertia swicth is not tripped. The Inertia switch is installed to make sure the fuel supply is cut off in case of acident or if you have a heavy vibration. Just look for it and reset it by pressing it down. It is located under the hood on the driver side by the fire wall. close to the brake booster. Hope this help.

Air bag light on ? Do you have a scan tool that can read air bag code's ? Light on ,code's are stored . As far as the P0629 code
DTC P0629: Fuel Pump Relay Control Circuit High Voltage
The engine computer is seeing high voltage which means there is P0629
The ECM detects the fuel pump relay control circuit control circuit is shorted to voltage.

Circuit/System Description
The engine control module (ECM) provides ignition voltage to the coil side of the fuel pump relay whenever the engine is cranking or running. The control module enables the fuel pump relay as long as the engine is cranking or running, and ignition system reference pulses are received. If no ignition system reference pulses are received, the control module turns OFF the fuel pump. The fuel pump relay control circuit is equipped with a feedback circuit that
is pulled up to 2.5 volts within the ECM. The ECM can determine if the control circuit is open, shorted to ground, or shorted to a voltage by monitoring the feedback voltage.

Replaced fuel pump now no power to pump

If you unplug the connector for the pump, you should have battery voltage on the pump circuit from the relay for 3 seconds. You would have 5 or 6 volts for the gauge sending unit.
You should be able to jumper the pump relay and get 12 volts at the pump connector.

Iam getting no voltage tto my fuel pump,front tank doesn't work,I changed the ignition switch,still no luck. the continuos power to my fuel pump reads 6.5 volts. From what I can tell my electrical sytem...

Poor earth connection most likely causing hifgh resistance voltage drop.

Could also be a faulty pump. Run a separate power supply to it and recheck.

You could desrupt pump if try to configure relay module is located inside the fuel reservoir.
