When cold runs rough, blows smoke always, seems to b oil were air filter resides, not bubbling out radiator cap nor is the oil milky so not head gasket hasnt had a tune up ever i dont think but even so wouldnt make it blow smoke or be as gutless as it is or would it??
Your intake could be overloading with fuel check your choke see if its sticking or fuelpump pushing to much clean all your linkage arms going to your carb or fuel injection area
White smoke would be a sign of a head gasket blue smoke is a sign of burning oil black smoke is a sign of a fuel problem so blowing smoke and rough running do a compression test and look for a weak cylinder

It is probably the problem. To make shure that need to change the gaskets, one of the symptoms use to be thet the temp rises when you are running at speed 50+ average, where is supposed that the car gets a lot of air due by the speed and nobody thinks that will be overheated.

I had the same problem. I changed the pcv valve and checked the hose. It still did the same thing. Then I checked the metal tubing that the hose connects to and found it was full of hardened gunk. I sprayed PB Blaster into the tube let it soak for awhile. Then took an old choke cable, put it on a drill and ran it into the tube like a drain snake. It took a while of doing this over and over but eventually got it cleared out. Now, no more oil all over the engine and hood compartment.

I had the same problem on my 1999 Pontiac GA 3.4 litre. Replaced a bunch of stuff. It just kept pushing the coolant out the overflow once the temp got to 200 + like to drove me nuts. Ended up being that reservoir. If you measure the O.D. of the cap(brand new cap) and the I.D. of the reservoir filler neck there is no way it will seal(even tried to fit a different type cap,no luck). The system has to be able to build pressure or the coolant will boil out at 212. Causing the coolant to be pushed out the reservoir. Why? you say or How? did the filler neck increase in size. I dont know but GM has write ups about this problem. They say sand it with a piece of sandpaper to smooth it. Maybe someone sanded it way to much?? Around $40 bucks and I was on my way. Hope this helps someone.

Have a look at the thermostat.
If it's blocked shut, there won't be the circulation through the rad.
You may need to invest in some 'radweld' type treatment too.
Good luck with that.
Don't forget to rate, thanks ;)

With the engine cold & the radiator full remove the radiator cap and start the engine. Let the engine reach operating temperature which will open the thermostat. When it opens the water in the radiator will start circulating if the pump & thermostat are operating properly. If all is ok replace the cap and turn the temperature lever on the heater to hot If you still have no heat check the heater valve on the engine firewall. Open it manually and see if you have heat. If yes check the cable from the velve to the temperature lever.
