Vehicle 2005 Nissan xterra, starts fine, runs fine BUT.....the dashboard has 4wd, service engine soon light, and ! Light and slip light all lit up all the time. Also the speedometer does not move.....not all all. Even on the highway. The RPM does not rev , just works normal. Any idea what is causing this? I will get it serviced in three days . I am driving it.....but should I be? It feels safe.

I had the same indications on My 2000 Maxima but the engine was also running rough . I replaced the number 3 cylinder ignition module and all of the spark plugs and all of the error lights are back to normal I had to reset the check engine light by disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes.By the way my car has 253,000 miles on it so if you have a lot of miles on your car you might want to check all of the ignition modules so pull your spark plugs and read them they might tell you where your problem is .

that might be a funny coincidence if your buddy knows whats up then it just might be a sensor that would be my guess, check your fuses just to be safe.

make sure the gas cap is tightly sealed. Inspect the gasket on the gas cap

The oil change wouldn't cause this problem. Just in-case, check the engine oil level.

There are many emission sensors in the car that will make the engine light come ON. Best way to find out what's going on is to have an auto-parts store hook up a engine code reader and tell you what the code means. Most auto-part store will do this for free.

If it's the indicator that literally says "service engine soon", and not the check-engine light, then you have no worries. That's programmed to come on at set intervals to remind you that routine service may be due soon (oil change, inspection, tire rotation, etc). It's not an indication of failure. Failures will be shown by the check-engine light. That one is nothing to worry about. Your owner's manual should have a procedure to turn it off.
