SOURCE: Where is the hazard and flasher relay in the 1996

The relay should be located inside the vehicle on the drivers side, under the dash right above the kick panel. below is a picture of what it will look like but yours may be a different color but the shape should be the same. I hope this helps and good luck.

Hi, this symptom is caused by a failed turn signal switch. I have pasted procedures below for replacing the switch. You will need a steering wheel puller to access the switch. Other tools needed are mostly screwdrivers or small nut drivers, except for the steering wheel nut, which is a larger one--about 15 or 17 mm.

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Center the front wheels and lock the steering column. Remove the key from the ignition.
  2. Disable the SIR (air bag) system by removing the SIR fuse and disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the air bag module from the steering wheel using the following procedure:
NOTE The air bag can be retained to the steering wheel with several different types of fasteners, depending on Model Year and vehicle equipment. A small mirror may be helpful to examine the back of the steering wheel to determine how the air bag is retained on your vehicle. It could be by Torx®screws which are unscrewed using the proper bit (usually a #30 driver bit). An alternate method of attachment is by small leaf-type springs which are unclipped with a small flat-blade prytool.
  1. On the back side of the steering wheel, locate and remove the air bag fasteners.
  2. Gently pull on the air bag module to free it from the steering wheel.
  3. Detach the electrical connections from the steering wheel to the air bag module.
  4. Place the air bag in a safe place, with the trim pad facing upwards.

  1. Scribe an alignment mark on the steering wheel hub in line with the existing mark on the steering shaft.
  2. Loosen, but do not remove the steering wheel shaft nut, positioning it flush with the end of the steering column shaft. This is protect the steering column shaft threads from the foot of the steering wheel puller center screw.
  3. Assemble a suitable steering wheel puller (GM recommends their J 1859-A puller with J 36541 special legs) to the steering wheel and pull the wheel loose from the shaft.
  4. Remove the steering wheel shaft nut and the remove the steering wheel. Detach the electrical connectors.

  1. Make sure the multifunction lever is in the OFF position.

  1. Remove the screws from the lower steering column cover. It may be helpful to tilt the column down and slide the cover back to disengage the plastic locking tabs. Work carefully. The plastic column covers are easily damaged.
  2. Remove the screws from the upper steering column cover and lift off the cover.
  3. Disconnect the wire harness strap.
  4. It is likely that wire ties restrain the multifunction switch harness. Cut off the plastic wire ties.
  5. Detach the steering column harness connector from the vehicle wire harness.
  6. Remove the two tapping screws and separate the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly from the steering column.
  7. Installation is the reverse of the removal process. Use new plastic wire ties to secure the harness as before.
  8. Test all multifunction switch operations.

  1. Route the SIR connector through the steering wheel.
  2. Align the scribe mark on the steering wheel made at removal with the existing mark on the steering column shaft. Make sure the steering wheel is seated.
  3. Install the steering wheel shaft nut and tighten to 33 ft. lbs. (45 Nm).
  4. Install the air bag module using the following procedure:
    1. Attach the electrical connections to the air bag module.
    2. If equipped with leaf-spring type clips, line up the air bag module retainers with the openings in the steering wheel. Gently press the air bag module into place until it 'snaps' into place.
    3. If equipped with screws to retain the air bag, install the screws using care to line up the screw openings.

  5. Enable the SIR system by replacing the fuseand reinstally the negative battery cable.
  6. Check the operation of the horn and steering wheel. Check the operation of the steering wheel switches, as equipped.

The ECM doesn't have a relay! It works using low voltage and low amps.

The ECM does have a fuse assigned to it though.

Turn signal isn't working on my 1992 Nissan pathfinder. Fuse is fine. Hazards are working. It might be the relay, but I don't know where it is located.

you americans and your facination for relays, they rarely go wrong ,if hazards working and flashers do not then their is only two options ,the hazard light switch or the flasher switch ,i would change the hazard light switch first ,they are interconnected

2004 monte carlo. Turn signals dont work. The stalk still works with other functions, such as wiper, brights. The fuse is fine. Could it be a bad relay? When u push the stalk up or down nothing happens on...

try pressing the hazards on and off if they still don,t work replace the flasher unit. it is built into the hazard switch( all one unit ) change this and all will be good.

Signals don't signal

check fuse number 17 in fuse block if ok check bulbs <you said they turn on just don't flash so thats ok> the relay feeds power to the switch cluster but the flasher unit itself is built into the combo switch for turn signal/hazard switch
