Check the dash light dimming switch which often times gets moved to off position by mistake when cleaning or dusting off dash. Rare that all would go out at once, other than fuse, also rare given low amp circuit for dash lights. FREE-STREAM-TV.com

SOURCE: Heater does not work, no blower control

hehehe, well, you THINK you checked the resistor, but you didn't, that's the fuse or relay.

It's behind the blower motor, held into the blower motor housing by 2 5.5MM screws. You get upside down on the passenger floor and look under the dash, you'll see the motor, and an electrical connector plugged in right behind it (firewall side). I just changed mine cause after 200k miles it literally broke in half on a cold morning. They're a pain to get to, especially the back screw so good luck if you don't have a universal joint for a 1/4inch socket. Another way is to pull back the carpet, and take a razor blade to the rubber&foam floor noise dampener to cut a small hole just underneath the screw. That'll allow a small socket wrench to get the right angle to get it out. 5.5MM bolts by the way.

If it sat for a long period of time, a critter could have easily gotten into your air system, and chewed/broke it as well so might want to remove the blower motor (just a couple of screws and it slides out) to check if there's anything in there such as broken pieces or a nest. Good Luck.

SOURCE: 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix -

I can't answer because I have other question open, sorry, but here I send any comments and clues to solve (I hope).

For the FUSE PANEL, location and description, I suggest check the 2000-Pontiac-Grand-Prix-Owners-Manual (page 330 and next). A/C have one "diode". Check it.

About your radio display, sound like a internal problem, keep in mind that the CD is working.

The Security Litgh, its possible that you have any problem with the THEFT system or any aftermark alarm (if you have).

Resetting Oil Service Indicator Lights - Pontiac Grand Prix, 1999-03
Driver Information Center If Equipped). Turn the ignition to ON without starting the engine. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the CHANGE OIL Soon indicator flashes two times, the system is resetting. Turn the ignition key to OFF, then start the vehicle.
If the CHANGE OIL SOON indicator comes on and stays on, repeat the procedure. To reset the OIL LIFE indictor if equipped with a Trip Computer: Press the trip MODE button until the light appears next to OIL LIFE. Press and hold the trip RESET button until the oil life percentage changes to be 99 percent.

Hope helps (remember rated this).

I have a 87 jeep comanche. auto. transfered to 4x4. my dash light wont work, i believe its a dead short because i raised the fuse number and it still blew. my question is, were would be the most likel

When say "dash light" I'm assuming you mean the nighttime illumination for instruments like the speedometer for example. If your truck has a stand-alone digital clock (not part of the radio) that has a feed wire from the instrument panel lights for it to dim at night, otherwise it'd be too bright. That could be a source of a short. The radio also makes use of the dash illumination as well, making the digital display darken at night and lighting the radio's controls and face plate at night, another source of a short in this circuit. Do not ever increase fuse ratings when replacing a fuse, that defeats the safety purpose of the proper fuse being able to blow, opening the circuit which prevents wires overheating and potentially catching fire. You don't want to go there. If you have recently installed another radio the wiring may be wrong. This happened a LOT on Pontiac Firebird's and TransAm's. People often wrongly assumed all black wires are ground and ended up grounding the dash illumination input. This blew the dash light fuse and made the retracting headlight doors stay up.

I changed stereo and now the dashlights do not work

Check your park light fuse. You may have blown the fuse for the dashlights/park lights by accidentally grounding the night illumination wire, located in the radio wiring. That wire runs from the dash lights to the radio, to illuminate the radio at night. Alternately, if the park light fuse keeps blowing when you replace it, you might've hooked that night light wire up to the wrong wire on your radio.

Rear-window defogger wont work and radio cuts off when u put on

Sounds like a dead short. Disconnect the power to the radio and try the rear defog. Then to determine if it is the radio or the hater, disconnect the heater and put power to the radio. Another simple test is to, at night have the head lights on, turn the radio on see how much the lights dim. Then with the radio off, turn the rear defog on. Then try both. IF either one makes the head lights dim and not recover after a minute or so that devise is the shorted component. Check grounds on the radio and the heater.

Radio,lights

check the illum. wire or the dimmer wire going to the deck. there is a wire that tell the deck when to illuminate brighter or dimmer so that it will work with the car lights.my guess is that wire is shorting or grounding out and when you turn the lights on thats when it shorts out and shuts off your deck. simple test - just unhook them and see if it works. then investigate the short if you wan the dimmer to work otherwise just cut them clean off and tape them up (so they dont short something else out) and forget about them.
