1999 DeVille car just dies

If the lights in the dash come on when it dies, then the switch is working. Might want to check for codes. Even if the engine light isn't on. Intermittent problems don't turn the light on, but are stored in history codes. Check the battery to body ground.

There are many things that can contribute to this problem. It sounds like it may be ignition related. Possibly an ignition control module or ignition coil. The check engine light coming on while driving is the key to finding the problem. The light comes on when the computer finds a problem and will then store it in its memory. Have the codes checked for what the computer has found to be at fault and with a little diagnostics, should lead you to the problem

Most the time the engine dies while driving is due to a crankshaft sensor failure. When this fails, the engine can't be started since the ECM doesn't know the location of TDC to provide proper ignitions. Have a shop check out and replace this part then you are good to be back on the road. Good luck.

Sure is, the regulator in the alternator went out. You can test this by starting the car and disconnecting the battery while the engine is running. If the car dies, you have a bad alternator.

Check plug connections on fuse block inside on driver side. This may be your problem. Car will die and you will not have any dash lights { check engine air bag ect}

maybe ur fuel pump needs replacing. if fuel pump goes out no gas to egnition. or your fuel pump relay might have blown chech owners manual or relays.

have fuel pressure checked it is possible that you need a new fuel pump. the fuel filter is underneath car on drivers side connected to frame, near fuel tank

Most common cause is the crankshaft postion sensor

i replaced the crankshaft position sensor now it runs fine
