What code number? Sounds like output shaft speed sensor. Very common on this vehicle. Can be changed quite easily with a 1 inch socket and a drain pan. Part is less than 50 dollars from dealer.

sounds like you should start by dropping the pan and changing the filter, put cheap fluid in it or reuse the old fluid if its not too bad bring it to a shop and have a transmission flush performed with a good flush machine your valve body is sticking and this should clear things up please rate -jeff

Yep ,sounds like limp mode ,should be in second gear.
Try,key on engine off, depress accelerator to floor 3 times within 5 seconds.Should reset trans.

Hi,

Here is some possible reasons why your transmission is having those problems .

* The gear shift linkage is binding
* There is an internal problem in the transmission
* The throttle cable is broken or disconnected
* The vacuum modulator on the transmission is faulty or the vacuum line is damaged
* The electronic transmission control circuit may be faulty

I was told to change my Transmission Control Module, located on the transmission . You can get it new for under $200 but, I was advised to get it from a junk yard it's alot cheaper and its easier. I hope this helps

1988 Cadillac Coupe DeVille The automatic transmission won't shift from 2nd to 3rd?

Nope, they didn't know what a limp mode was back in 88. You might try running an additive through for a bit, then doing a filter and fluid change, but those early ones were fully mechanical exept for the lockup on the converter.

What is the cause of the Toyota Gaia dragging in gear change, while dragging the speedometer does not read, once the gear shifts the speedometer starts to read, everything then becomes normal?

no car stated (Gaia what? er Toyota )
2.0Liter told later
no transmission type, AUTO IT IS. NOT STICKSHIFT.

I guess dragging means delayed shift in the automatic>?

why not ask your autoshop this,.>?>?> as 99% do.

if any automatic fails to up shift the speed is low
speed low cause the speedometer to read low.
not upshifting can be cause by 2 things, weak engine or bad transmission.
you will never learn or discover why only your shop will. BUT I did answer below. and can expand each line by 100 fold if need be.
and more if the year car was told or what transmission model is there, some cars had 2 choice or more back then.

My 2001 chevy suburban feels heavy like it wont shift

check transmission fluid level, could be very low transmission slipping not going into over drive.if been long time change transmission fluid and filter.if transmission fluid filter already been changed other problems cause transmission not to shift could have worn broken need adjusting.governor valve sticking, governor drive gear worn, governor weights or springs missing or damaged. you could have sticking first and second shift valves.your first and second servos pistons seals stuck or damaged. do fluid change and add some high mileage transmission treatment go to any auto parts stores find transmission additive that will loosen up transmission sticking shift valves in the valve body. if your check engine light is on have vechicle code scan for faulty tps in which will cause transmission not to shift over drive.

1996 f150 4x4 e4od automatic stuck in 2nd or limp mode while in 2wheel drive or 4wheel high, when i put it in 4wheel low the transmission shifts in all gears. At fist I was told the transmission was bad,so...

Wow,
That's odd ,push button shift I suppose . Ford doesn't have a 2nd gear limp mode ,I don't think.
Has to be the manual linkage at the shifter, try manually shifting? still no low?

Why does s3 and s4 on integra start flashing

I found this one the www.hondacarforum.com
http://www.hondacarforum.com/honda-technical/28562-i-have-1989-honda-integra-can-any-one-tell-me-what-s4-gear-stick.html

You have a couple of choices on this Honda transmission... D and S modes. Consider the D as the normal Drive mode and the S for Sport mode. The difference between the two is that in "D", the transmission will shift through the gears all the way to 4th gear and at lower rpm shift points. In "S", the transmission will shift at higher rpm levels and will go no higher than 3rd gear and light S3 on the dash. Once the vehicle is in 3rd gear (S3) you can then press the S4 button and the transmission will go into 4th gear (when conditions dictate). I believe there is even an S4 indicator on the dash signifying the trans is in 4th gear

The last line looks like it is the key here though.

If the car thinks its in 4th gear when you are trying to start it, obviously it wouldn't start...you could probably hunt around and see if there is a sensor on the transmission stick that runs the "D" vs "S" mode

1999 dodge intrepped wont shift out of first gear

Won't shift out of first, or is stuck in second? These transmissions will go into limp mode which sticks it in 2nd gear. Is the check engine light on? This will most likely lead you to the fault if it is.
