You either have problem with the shifter assy, or the shifter cable has come out of adjustment.
If you remove the shifter bezel and center console you will be able to see the shifter cable. There will be a white or black lift tab on the cable. Release the tab and and place shifter in park. If it still does not go into park that means that you will need a shifter assy. If it goes into park with the tab released you push the tab back down with it still in park.
That should take care of your problem.

I had the same problem with my 05. I couldn't shift out of park. So, I checked brake pedal sensor, and wire linkage and they were fine. I took the center console apart and pulled out the shifter assembly and sure enough the problem was at the assembly. There is a plastic piece. that hooks to a small spring that snapped. I ened up renforcing it with a small clamp hose, and ever since its been functioning fine. I imagine I saved my over $500 bucks of repair cost and also wouldn't be surprize for others to have the same problem.

SOURCE: I have a 2005 Chrysler 300 and I can't shift out
1st thing to do is "Check your brake lights" make sure it work, because
it trigger the sensors that will allow you to shift into Reverse or
Drive.
2nd, Your car turn on, everything seem fine, but it still get stuck half way to R (reverse) then here's the problem.
If everything is fine, you can shift half way to R(reverse) and it get
stuck half way, then its the Mechanism inside of the Shifter Box that's
defect. As this is VERY VERY common in Chrysler 300. And Chrysler
should do a defect & recall about this problem. there's a Piece of
plastic hook inside the Shifter gear that's broken, because its very
very thin, about 1 1/2 Centimeter, therefore, its very easy to break.
BUT Chrysler doesn't sell this part alone, they sell the whole Shifter
Box for about 350. But that hook is all you need. here's 2 way to fix this problem.
1. You can go directly to a Chrysler Dealer, ask for a SHIFTER GEAR
BOX, or GEAR SELECTOR. its about 350 BRAND NEW, then take it to a
mechanic for them to install it, $100 for labor as most.
2. if you know a little bit about car, and can fix it yourself, then its
not that hard. you can go to a junkyard, buy that Shifter Box yourself,
then replace it, or
You can open up that shifter gear box, Modify a hook for that spring,
you can either 1. Drill a hole in that plastic piece and hook that
spring, or use some type of metal string to ties that spring in place.
and i guarantee it will fix the problem.
I advice not to take it to the service center as they will simply tell you its a Electronic Problem and will charge you 500+ $.
Thank you, Have a nice day Sir.
