1995-1998 - 12.25 qts.
NOTE: After a fluid / filter change with just the pan off - it would take only 4.5 qts. to fill it back up. (The rest remains in the transmission lines, gears, torque converter etc).
The filter and transmission fluid needs to be changed........The transmission filter is dirty and causing a flow restriction under load.....Hope this helps.
Yes. Having owned a trans shop, varnished means burnt clutches. Pull it and have it rebuilt. Your looking at ,at least $1800.00. No one rebuilds a transaxle for a thousand dollars. Not even if you pull it and carry it in.
there are numerous class action law suits over the failure of these Windstar transmissions, no sure the outcome, but u are going to need the trans pulled out and overhauled.
HI !!! there usully one problem w/ this when thoesnt shfti right from firs to the second also takes more time is the Solenoid Pack in Rey. have computer tested and it wil tell you which has to be changr all this work inside the trnsmsion
Check transmission fluid level first. Make note if the fluid color is dark brown and smells burnt you probably have a serious problem. If fluid is full, you probably have pump failure. Trans will need to be overhauled or replaced.
