You can buy fuses in petrol stations. There is more to AC though than just a fuse. There is a relay as well and an electronic clutch.

There are several things that can cause electrical problems for your car's air conditioning. These can include failed switches, a blown fuse, a problem with the control module or something else. Check the fuse and relay related to the AC. Your fan should come on when the AC is turned on. Right now the fan is working only off the engine temp., not the AC.
The best I can tell u is that the smell is from a leak at the evaporator or connections. I advise to get another opinion because it sounds like a lot of guesswork. if u get the work done, make sure the work comes with a warrantee! I gave all my customers warrantees for 20 years. That's part of the diagnostic business! Good Luck If u don't get a warrantee ,don't get the diagnosis or work done
Have a good mechanic to check to see if the door of the a/c and heater and defroster is working properly. I had the same problem and one mechanic said he could fix it for $750. I got it fixed by an honest mechanic for less than $100. Good Luck!!

Probably short on AC gas , as if law on AC gas the compressor would not work as a compressor protection mode.
Check if AC gas is low and pressure test for leaks
