Big problem, the interior and exterior door handle not working on the drivers side rear door. Also, the window won't go down but I need to get the door handles working first. There is no tension on either handle like something broke off inside. Does anyone know how to get to the inside lock mechanism or remove the door panel with the door closed??
You will need someone with a break in kit. You are only allowed them if you have a reason to have them ie: licensed repairer. It will contain wedges to go between the outside of the window & the door to spread the gap. There is then a series of wire hooks, sheet steel with notches cut out etc... They need to put the correct one in the gap & unlock the door if it is locked. Then actuate the latch mecanism inside to open the door. You can then get the trim off to repair the problem. I have a kit but sorry I can't help.
No worries. That is what you want (universal lock out kit) The most important is the wedge. It will have general instructions with illistrations on some popular vehicles but the principle is the same. If you can't work out where the mechanisms are then remove the opposite door panel so you can see what you need to do.

You will need to remove the door panel to gain access to the handle. Roll the window up or down as needed to get to the nuts that attach the handle to the door. You will also need to remove a rod the goes to the door lock. You will see the rod after the door panel is removed. Good luck.
SOURCE: need to remove inner rear passenger side door
On the inside trim, you can remove screws (these screws may be covered by filler pieces or may be visible, or they may require you pry a plastic piece off that covers the screws) that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you need to pull back the weather seal and then you can access the bolts securing the outer handle

Thank you little_shaws, I kept racking my brain and never thought of that. I googled, "automobile break in kit", and came up with quite a few items that seem like they'll probably work. One of them is a 9 piece Universal Car Opening Lock Out Kit which is very reasonably priced. Thanks again for the help!!!!!!!!
