1995 Toyota Tercel SLUGISH

ANYONE out there have suggestions on why a 1995 Toyota Tercel suddenly lost all umph. Like when you go to pull out your gas petal is to the floor and she takes the whole intersection plus 1/4 block to get up to 30mph. SLUG. This started happening one day before repairs began. This is what I have personally helped repair all last week: -New Fuel Pump -New Timing Belt -USED/NEW Left CV Axle Joint -NEW Cam Seal -NEW Upper Alternator bracket and reattached under brackets which where not attached apparently. -tightened the serpentine belt -Checked and filled all the fluids RULED OUT CADILLAC CONVERTER -plead the 5th- * Definitely need new spark plug wires as they arked and shocked the mechanic dude who was teaching me how to repair the above parts. *Left side passenger motor mount bolt had worked its way out and we had to reattach it in a few weeks ago. *Alternator was not attached underneath, causing the inner "screw thingy" to be a little off, now makes a cricket sound. We still plan to get / repair: ~ 2 new tires for the front, and one for a spare. ~Right hub bearing ~Right driver side CV Joint Axle ~Transmission Flush ~Spark plug wires

My 1995 toyota is doing the same thing. Sluggish. (i have 263579 miles on it) Ibought my car used in 1998 and it only had 40000 miles on it. It has been a very good car to me and i refuse to give up on it. I recently changed spark plugs and now im pricing coil packs. My check engine lite comes on after a few minutes of driving and i did take it in to get diagnosed. Well after all my research on line about computer codes and what they mean, the techs where i took told me the exact same thing that i new already. thank goodnes it was free..
anyway, im dealing with code issues, generalized in the area of P300 which could mean a variety of things. im working down the list. im in the process of looking for least expensive coil packs to buy to replace mine. one auto place priced me 66 a piece and i need 2. i think thats a little steep, so im on a mission to find them a little less. any ideas. and as far as the sluggish goes.... im not sure. if eventually we find the cause, ill check back with you, if you don't mind. any idea is helpful
    thanks kelly

I did finally replace the coil packs on my toyota, both of them....with this and changing spark plugs my toyota is on the road again. I have learned a lot about the check engine light thru this whole process. mine is still on and i know it has to do with my smog stuff and emission control. this is my next project. I know that toyotas are great cars and mine really has been there and back, but, i say if its still going why change now.

I believe that what you are experiencing is whats called FAILSAFE MODE, which means its stuck in 2nd or 3rd gear due to recent change in driving habits.... maybe you got on the accelerator a little too rapidly or sharp corner too fast.... All, Nissan's, Toyo's, and most cars have this mode wich is meant to prevent further damage to the trans. This may not be what your experiencing but it sounds like the symptoms, sluggish, slow acceleration,.......
have you experiencs and shifting issues, is it an auto or manual trans? if you have a trans power or over drive button and or light on dash or shifter for automatic, observe when you start it up next time and you may find it blinks 8-10-12 times.... if so you have damaged the trans due to mismatched/mixed tire sizes and or tread depth, and brans or tread styles.... yes it doesn't just ruin 4x4 auto trans,.... it kills any transmission after unknowingly driving around with incorrect tires. I work for Nissan and have for 26 years and i have seen chain tire dealers like Walmart, Sears Roebuck, Midas, Tire Wharehouse, Pepboys, and dozens of others cause the transmission planetary-gear failure; in mostly automatic 4x4 or AWD vehicles when replacing just one two or three tires AND NOT THE COMPLETE SET AS REQUIRED BY EVERY AWD AND 4X4 AUTO MANUFACTURER. DON'T BE A VICTIM... BE A WISE CONSUMER.... AND GET AN ATTORNEY IF YOU BECAME ONE ALREADY....
THANKS AND GOODLUCK

SOURCE: Why has the timing belt jumped again less than 3 weeks after being replaced?

is better for you to change your engine.
because if the belt is felt working all the valve and pisotns inside the engine is going to colide in each other soo you have to change all the things. and may not work at all too. so put in your doing things, changement of the engine.

SOURCE: 2004 camry, vibration right front

If the wheel is in balance and there is no other signs of what is causing the vibration than yes that cv joint should be chk. Is the strut ok? might want to chk. that too.

I have a 1993 Toyota Tercel, it's burning twice as much gas as normal and it has a bad periodic vibration. What could be the problem and what can I do to fix it?

I'm not 100% however you might want to check your o2 sensor had it happen in one of the previous vehicles I owned.

I am the owner of a 1995 toyota tercel. I have recently had it inspected and everything was running fine until the other day I hit a speed bump pretty hard and now I am experiencing problems with my car....

if it crank over OK but just don't start? or that it quits cranking over ?/ it could be that it knocked a ground wire loose or that it knocked a chunk of rust off of the gas line. and taking in air /not enough gas/ hope this gives you some idea ,what to look at if you still would like more info feel free to ask .

4 quarts of oil with a new filter (3.79 litres)

Use genuine Toyota "red" coolant. Not a great idea to use anything other than genuine Toyota coolant. The Toyota coolant prolongs the life of the water pump impeller shaft seal. Get it at a Toyota dealer, mix it 50-50 with water.
