When I go 70 on the highway and sway back and forth with the steering wheel you can hear it. Cannot hear it at the normal 45 to 55 mph speeds. Had new tires and ball joints on last year and just had new brakes and wheel bearings put on in the back this past weekend June, 2012. Then I started noticing the front noise after that was done.

whoa! You have what sounds like a serious front end problem. Jack up the car, use safety stands to support it, block the rear wheels front and back. Look behind the left front wheel, look at the axle boot . Do you see any rips, splits, or grease ? The boot may have torn, letting in road debris which will destroy the axle, causing it to make a rattle or rubbing noise when you turn.. If the boot looks ok all around, grab hold of the tire one hand on the top, one on the bottom, push and pull the tire in opposite directions (top in, bottom out, top in bottom out) and have some one look under the car in the area behind the wheel to see if anything is moving around. Do the same w/ one hand on front of tire (9 oclock position) and back of tire (3 oclock position), and again try to force the wheel in and out, while someone looks underneath for any component that moves around. If the front end is ok, you won't see any movement. You may have a badly worn tie rod or ball joint, this could also cause the car to wander on the highway. Check it asap, as the next step is for something to 'let go' and you can lose control of the car. Let me know what u find. good luck countrycurt0

I certainly would take it back to the shop that performed the brake job and have them investigate. If it was not making the noise prior to the repair there is a good chance the noise is involved with the brakes. A possible loose brake pad, a sticking caliper(caliper pins may need to be lubed) or any number of things could be wrong.

this is going to sound craZy but i had the same problem . 5 different techs, still same problem. sounded like front end was coming through the floorboard. CHANGE ALL SWAY BAR BUSHINGS. QUIET AS A CHURCH MOUSE. GOOD LUCK
SOURCE: My front end makes a loud humming noise.
Alignment will not create a sound by it's self. The most common cause of humming (especially if you have an agressive tread design)is a wear pattern in the tires...check for that or rotate the tires around & see if the noise changes. If it does then you know it's in the tires. & Not always, but most of the time a bearing noise will increase or decrease in intensity if you load up one side at a time by doing 35-50 mph & turning slightly to each side.
