Question about 1996 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight
I have an Oldsmobile 88 the airbag light won't go off. The airbags have never been deployed, the seat belts work etc. how do I reset it, I tried buying one of those $100 OTC machines only to find out its not compatible to this cars srs system. Does anyone know to reset it? Thanks
Only a owner, or somebody who worked on an olds can give a full answer. Well, in London I don't see many Oldsmobile.
I hope to help by posting a link to Haynes Haynes on haynes manual for your model you should find the whole illustrated procedure for fitting the airbag.

I don't know about GM, but some Ford have a interlock type system that will not let the car start untill the security system is deactivated by the remote. If you have the remote then try hitting the unlock button a couple times with the doors shut and then try starting it.

suspect you activated one of the air bag sensors. it takes activation of two of three sensors to blow off the airbag. have the airbag system scanned to see the sensors as to which one is causing the problem. there is also a chance that a loose connecter may have come off an airbag sensor from the jarring of the bump. either way you will need to get scanned to find out whats going on.
