The indicator is suppose to turn off when the engine warms up. just make sure a red sign doesn't come on otherwise the engine is overheating. if the red shows up then you have a problem.

Testimonial: "Thank you , I start the engine 2 to 3 minutes before driving, if so , indicator is turned off when I start driving, I think it is safe for engine. "

SOURCE: 2003 aerio start in morning, runs, go for a drive

Sounds like a fuel problem. Check the filter - replace if not replaced before. If you hear the fuel pump working when it still won't start - try spraying some WD40 into the intake - this should cause it to try to start if it is fuel. If it is electrical you will need to trace down the problem from that angle. I suspect it is fuel. Also while you're at it - look for water condensation in the fuel tank. Try one bottle of common rubbing alcohol into the tank - [ you may need to get a funnel to make the fuel flap open to accept the alcohol] Pour the alcohol in and drive it for 20 minutes or so.
Keep in mind the newer fuel filters will stop a car from runnning if the moisture level is too high. They are designed to keep water out of the fuel system under the hood so if you got water in the fuel or a major condensation problem this will require you to replace the filter even if newer. While your doing this make sure the fuel cap is tight all the way and also look under it to be sure it is not cracked.
Also when testing the car - can you let it run without it over heating? If you can I would let it run in the drive way area for as long as you can stand it. Try 15 minutes -then try to restart -30 if it does - 45 - 60 and on until it refuses to start - then try that again. This is tedious I know. Best of luck and post back what you find.

Regards,

SOURCE: choking in the morning and after rain, but it is gone after driving for 10 minutes

Pour a little water around the base of the coil while running and if engine stops running thats the problem.Coils tend to get small cracks that moisture gets into.Caused by engine heat and its own high operating temp.

Sounds like your catalic converter is trying to stop up. When you drive it this heats up and causes your car to vapor lock and quit running you let cool down and it will start back and run for a while. You can take it to a muffler shop and they will check it for free. This could be any number of issues but this is where i would start.Best of luck to you, Thank's for using Fix Ya.

SOURCE: 92 Paseo starts fine each

If you only get 1 click per key turn, sounds like the copper contact plate in the starter solenoid is worn. If you keep trying to start it and it eventually turns over click after click, then it more than likely time for a starter, or a starter rebuild if you're handy. The kits are available online for under $40

Start very well in the morning and when engine is cold once I drive it and stop it won't start it will just crank and I have to wait until the engine is cold then it will start smoothy

All signs point strongly to a failing fuel pump
They often go out when they get hot, and begin to work again when they cool down. Telltale sign.

How to inspect a used car like a PROFESSIONAL in under 30 minutes

Copyright © by MUSTGO 2010

If you are in the market for a used car then this is a great 30 minutes inspection guide on how to inspect a car,truck,SUV or van from bumper to bumper.

I will append more tips and time saving inspection HOW TO's on this page so PLEASE bookmark my articles.

Do not forget to give me a positive rating if this guide is helpful to you.

============================================

1)Make the test drive appointment with the seller in the EARLY MORNING hour. Inspect the car when it is COMPLETELY cold.

Cold engine will ran rough during the closed loop cycle (warm up phase). This is the best time to inspect for worn motor and transmission mounts.

============================================

2) RECORD color of all fluid on the vehicle.

DO NOT ASSUME

motor oil is clear to black
transmission fluid is lite pink to dark red
coolant is green or orange for GM Dexcool

Dip a small sample of the fluids on a WHITE printer paper and compare it to any drip on the ground after 15 minutes of warm up time.

============================================

3)Look for oil leak(s) under the car after 15+ minutes of warm up time.

Front seal is inches below the harmonic balancer (center of the pulley system on the crank)

Rear main seal is no visible from the outside (It is where the engine meet the transmission casing)

Front seal and rear seal leak(s) can set you back hundreds on labor.
Some seller will tell you the rubber seal only cost $12 or less (which is true) but the labor is at $90+ per hour.

A top notch professional auto repair shop can complete the job on a rear wheel drive vehicle in under 1 1/2 hours (front and rear seals).

Front wheel drive vehicle is a 2+ hours job.

Once again DO NOT ASSUME

Lite brown to black fluid is motor oil

Pink to dark red is transmission fluid

Compare the fluid on the white printer paper so you will have a good idea on which fluid is leaking.

A manual transmission clutch system can be destroy by only few ounce of motor oil seepage from the rear main seal.

An average clutch job is over $260!!!!

============================================

4)Inspect the color of the exhaust smoke at initial startup.

Few minutes of lite blue or black smoke is OK for high mileage vehicle.
(75,000+ miles)

BLUE smoke is a sign of worn oil seal on the engine head. It SHOULD be clear out after 2-5 minutes of warm up time.

BLACK smoke is a sign of engine is running rich.
You should monitor the smoke level. It should reduce to an acceptable level after warm up 5-10 minutes.

lite WHITE smoke is OK until 10 minutes of warm up time.
If there is WHITE smoke after 15 minutes of warm up time then you should do a coolant compression test to make sure the head gasket able to blown.

=========================================

5)Look for miss-match tires

This is a sign for low budget owner or car flipper.

======================================

6)After 15+ minutes of warm up time then take the vehicle for local and highway ran.

Test the car on a hilly road to listen for dieseling (ping) sound from the engine.

WORN engine will produce louder dieseling sound.

A totally worn engine will also vibrate a lot more.
You have to factor is worn motor and transmission mount.

Have your friend drive a second vehicle right behind you to look for color of the smoke during the test drive during the test drive.

=========================================

7)On 1996+ vehicle,look for Check Engine or Service Engine Soon light.

MAKE SURE this lamp does light for few second during initial startup.

If there is code stored in the computer then you will need an OBDII code reader to pull the codes.

=========================================

8)READ the state emission report carefully!

HC
CO
CO2
O2
NOx

Look for the upper limit parameters and compare to the RECORDED TEST RESULTS.

======================================

9)Check for pull on suspension noise during test drive,

Do the re-bound shock test on all four shocks.

======================================

10) Inspect for damaged or replaced radiator support or hood.

Heavy frontal collision can cause frame damage.

Uni-body vehicle may not show frame damage with visual inspection.

Avoid car that has combination of frontal AND roof damage.

======================================

Check Kelly Blue Book for private seller value and Carfax before making the offer.

======================================

Good luck on your vehicle search and please email me if you have any question or comment on how to improve this inspection article.

I have a 2000 dodge Durango when it gets hot I have to wait about 10 to 15 minutes before it starts can't find the problem

Start with an error code if any read at your favorite auto parts store. How hot does it get? Possible so hot (cooling system problems) that the block sensor feeding the ECU is telling it there's a problem. A kind of safety system. Double check all cooling system components. Is the Water pump ok, or belt slipping? Battery and electrical system ok?

My Hummer H2 2003 model had a problem starting when its warm. Like when I start it in the morning, its normal, but after driving it for a few minutes and the engine is warm, I had difficulty starting

I had this same problem with my 2003 H2, my mechanic found that the fuel diaphragm was cracked and this was allowing my truck to flood. If it was a cold start, the extra fuel would evaporate and it would start fine. It actually got to the point where I would stall at a stop light or stop sign at idle. The part was is the neighborhood of $175.00 and about 1 hour of labor to install.

1991 Camry wont start in cool humid weather

anne, it sounds to me like dampness in the ignition process, if the engine is turning over at the turn of the key,then check the rubber ring seal inside your distributer cap(thats the coloured plastic cap with all the leads to the spark plugs) if its perished or showing signs of distortion,replace the whole cap. if its seems ok then try starting your engine at night or at least grey dark,open the bonnet and watch for sparks coming from any of the HT leads ( cable like things) that go to the spark plugs.If present either spray with "sparkseal"(short term solution) or replace the leads.Try this and if it doesn,t solve it , get in touch ok?
