Need key fob program
Nonsense. I just programmed a new remote start fob on my 2011 Santa Fee limited and it worked just great. Follow the steps below and see what happens.
1. Open the drivers side door
2. Turn the Vehicle ignition to the ON position (Do not start the vehicle)
3. Locate the disarm/program button. (look closely, it is located on the wiring harness just inside the lower dash. it could be located just inside the fuse cover.)
4. Press and hold the disarm/programming button for 10 to 15 sewconds, the horm will beep 3 times. Release the disarm/programming button.
5. On the fob, press the Find/Panic button One time and the horn will beep one time.
6. Turn off vehicle ignition. (YOUR DONE)
I cannot find the item under the dashboard. I have been under there with a flashlight can you post a picture of what it looks like?
I just did this...the instructions are correct. For vehicles with the remote start / alarm system from Hyundai, there is a cable with a button on the end of it that should located just under the panel under your steering wheel. I had to feel around and use a mirror to find it. FYI, the dealer wanted $150 for a new FOB and $75 to program it...I found a brand new genuine FOB from a Hyundai dealer online for about $28...brand new and it had the official instructions included. This is easy, don't spend big bucks!
I have a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited. The original key fob that came with car when we bought it from CarMax had quit working. The battery died in the car and when I tried to jump it off the alarm would keep sounding. The car will not start when the alarm system is activated. Since the key fob wouldn’t work there was no way to deactivate the system. I had already bought a replacement key fob and according to multiple sites, there was no way to reprogram the system. You are supposed to take it to a dealership or a locksmith. I found this site and this blog, and sure enough I found the button that he mentioned. It is just under the dash under the steering column. It is located at the end of a wire that should be attached to another wiring harness. I had to lay on my back in the floorboard to find it. Turn the ignition to the “ON” position. Press and hold the found button under the dash for 10-15 seconds, the horn should beep 3 times. Press the “Panic” button on the new key fob. The horn should sounds once. Turn the ignition off for at least 10 seconds. The car should start now. This was a life saver. I was almost about the just bite the bullet and pay a locksmith to come out and program it which would probably cost me $100 minimum. Thank you for posting this originally.
Thanks Ya All - gave me the confidence to keep looking - my button was wire tied to a group of wires behind my field of view - it is a gray button with a rubber protector at the end of wire - worked perfect - the 2 service counter guys didn't know where it was or how to find it - they even tried a computer lol scary they are supposed to know more than us -yikes
Here is a photo - couldn't find it anywhere on the internet hope it helps some one ... 2011 Hyundai Santa fe limited
Thank you very much to Fred for the instructions and to Gregg for the photo. It helped me find mine. It took me less than a minute to program the new fob for my 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe.
Worked like a charm! Thanks again!
Hello Friends, I am struggling to locate the button, but no matter how much I look at the cable groups or under the steering column, I can not get it. Any more specific location where I could look? Any additional help would be greatly appreciated.

The remote can't be programmed at home, it takes a special electronic tool to do the job.

Well, you basically have only 3 choices: TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN Group
1. Pay the fee at the dealership
2. Purchase the high-dollar equipment that is required to perform the programming procedure
3. Forget about adding another key fob to tor vehicle.

This is from the factory service manual of your car:
There is no onboard programming procedure for this vehicle. This vehicle requires special equipment be connected to the vehicle to program the keyless remote. Translation you need the dealer to do this.
Do the doors lock normally when using the manual switch on the dirver's door panel? If so, the problem is in the ETACS module. Here's the wiring diagram:

So here's the thing, you start off by saying 'nonsense'. Then you say the disarm/program button is located on the wiring harness OR it could be just inside the fuse cover. If you really knew where it was located, you could tell us for sure. I've looked and I can't find it. Are you telling me the location varies depending on which 2011 Santa Fe I have? Couldn't you direct us to a picture? Why are you no help? If you don't really know how to do this, why do you pretend to know how to do it?
