No AC, then recharged, now compressor makes on/off clicking noise while running with AC on

I had no cool AC, I recharged. Now the compressor makes this clicking noise on and off while the AC is on. Very little cool air coming out. Pressure seems fine checked with gauge but very little to no AC and now hearing this clicking noise when I have the AC on.

This still sounds like low pressure. If you re-charged a system that was low, and didn't pull a vacuum and evacuate the system first, then you still have air in the system, which is causing the compressor to cycle on and off.

SOURCE: clicking noise behind the glove box

The little box is called the blend door actuator. It is an inexpensive fix, and you should be able to do it at home. There are a lot of online step by step guides to fix it! Good luck, i hope it helps, i am having the same issue!

SOURCE: AC system, compressor not engaging.

Sounds like your a/c system is low on freon, system has a low pressure switch which disables a/c compr.so that it don't damage a/c compr, it would be kind of like running an engine with on oil it would damage an engine, what needs to be done is have dye injected in to a/c system to be able to fine the leak, once leak is found can be repaired and recharge with freon, system will work good after repair has been done.Good luck

SOURCE: A/C compressor clutch won't engage, system won't cool

Your system might be low on freon. Get a kit with a hose that has a gauge on it so you can see if you are in the "Good" range. The cycling switch won't close unless there is enough freon in the system. You can temorarily jumper the connector for the cycling switch to see if the compressor will come on. If it does, you are low on freon for sure. Do not let the compressor run for more than 15 - 30 seconds with it jumpered.

2000 jeep cherokee AC compressor clutch makes 2 rattling noises when I first start the engine for the day. It only started doing this after I recharged the AC with r134a because the AC wasn't blowing...

Does it make the noise even if the ac is switched off ? Its possible you have too much freon in the system, but the compressor should not be involved if it is turned off.

A/C fan blows but no cool air

the compressor is not working, may be there is ice accumulated on the evaporator, else there is a leakage due to which the refrigerant had escaped to the atmosphere.

There is a squeal sound (high pitch) coming out of

The seal on the AC compressor has probably failed and allowed all the refrigerant and lubricant to be lost. This allows the bearing to run dry and now it is failing and making noise.

1. You could have the AC repaired, the compressor repaired or replaced and the system refilled.

2. You could have a mechanic disconnect the system and possibly remove the compressor (only if this model does not use a belt that relies on the compressor being in place).

3. It is probably way too late to try to refill the AC system with R134a refrigerant as it would just run out past the failed seals.

If anyone has an AC unit that just recently stopped making cold air they should attempt to recharge the unit (if it uses R134a - check your manual or underhood stickers). I just did and saved my compressor and AC unit from further damage.

Air conditioner

no not normal could be the clutch, or could be normal if you hear a click followed by a slight rattle type of noise, best to compare with another vehicle that has an operative AC if you are not accustom to AC funtions
