99 SLK 230 Merc- I thought the window was suppose to go down slightly when door is opened and go back up to reseal. Mine does not...Also the windoe is going up to high so when I close the door the window is outside the rubber seals.

The window function you describe in your first paragraph is not found on the SLK, but rather the Porsche Boxster.

I had the same problem. The window goes up to high because a L shaped bracket has come off the window. This bracket basically restricts the height of the window. Take the door panel off retrive the bracket that is roaming free inside your door and glue back on.There are 2 brackets both glued to the window.one sits on the outside of the window the other ontop of that but inside.Use a strong glue otherwise it will keep happening. To anwer the first point the window is not supposed to go down.

Is there some way of opening the vw cabriolet when it's icy and not causing any damage. The windows are supposed to go down but because of ice |I'm afraid there's going to be some kind of damage. What does...

There is a wax you can buy to rub around the rubber surround where the door and windows contact. I don't remember where i got my last stick from but I would think a candle would work too.

You are trying to stop the glass/frame sticking together. So, rub wax on them and see if this helps.
The windows are supposed to drop slightly when you pull on the door handle. If they don't, it usually means the window module has lost it's position memory.

Continue to hold the window switch down for 5 seconds after it reaches it's lower limit. Do the same for fully up position....this sets the modules limits memory and windows should drop as handle pulled to open the door..

1999 slk 230 kompressor convertible top sticks halfway down, hydralic fluid looks brown is it possible fluid needs to be changed?

no the fluid doesn't need to be changed. it most likely is not seeing one of the micro-switches for the convertible top or the windows are not syncronized meaning the one touch/express mode is not working. to sync windows just open and close windows using the 1st detent on the window switch. when the window is fully closed hold switch for 3secs longer. as for the micro-switches the wiring sometimes breaks behind the headliner.

'03 SLK 230 top wont close - stuck half way open

first thing I would try, disconnect the battery to the car for a minute, then reconnect it. that may correct your problem.

Sticking roof

This symptom almost always points to a lubrication issue. The SLK hardtop is notorious for needing to belubricated every couple of years. Here is a link with directions andphotos:
