Mine does the same thing! Kinda scary. I have to be very carefully when I am pulling through drive thru or in a parking lot. It will surge forward without warning.

It is the throttle body. Ford charged me $695.00 for the new body and $300.00 to install it.

Ford sent out letters to five hundred owners offer to replace throttle body. Since my had already been repaired, Ford reimbursed my $500.00.

The five hundreds were truly a piece of junk. Never own another Ford of any type.

This type of problem needs a special test done by the dealer on the idle speed control system, it is called an "engine running EEC V" active test.

You need to have the transmission serviced. The wrench indicates that the fluid in your transmission is out of spec or you have an out of spec pressure condition.

I think you'll find it's a problem with your throttle you might need to talk to you local ford dealer but don't get talked into getting bit's replaced! I've been tld that you can put a recommended cleaner into your fuel tank and this can sometimes cure the problem - worth a go................

How do i to fix a ford five hundred car stuck in park?

If it is locked in park, it could be the brake switch or the shift lock solenoid. You may be able to shift out of park before you turn the key switch to the on position.

Okay, I looked up your service bulletin/recall...#
TSB 05-17-5 .....it states the exact same problem you are describing right now. If I were you, I would give them this info:

I have a problem related to the TSB 05-17-5.

If they have an issue with that, I would speak to someone higher up the food chain...this is not your problem, it is Ford's.

I have a 2006 Ford Five Hundred and the transmission is slipping. I need to be able to check the transmission fluid to see if it is low. How to I check the transmission fluid?

You may not be able to really. Some of these have dipsticks and some do not. CVT transmissions do not but some 6 speed transmissions do. If you do have one it should be near the air filter box. IF you have one....put the vehicle in park and start it up. Leave it running at an idle for several minutes until its good and hot. While it is running and hot, pull the stick and check the level. (be very careful) Fluid should be red in color and at the point on the stick where is says warm. If it is brown, you have trouble, if it is low, you have trouble. ie leak. Either way you look at it. ANY time a tranny slips it DOES cause further damage. I recommend a tranny shop

I have a 2006 ford five hundred; The "wrench" symbol illuminated on dash, car tried to accelerate then shut off. What could be the problem?

the 'wrench' symbol is a service light or possibly an engine managment symbol. if the car 'kinda' drive of a fashion then its computer has dropped onto 'limp home' mode and ur car needs to be put onto a diagnostic fault finder at a garage.

Electric cooling fan on ford five hundred not

Check the fuse for the fan and you could test to see if you have a voltage running to the fan when the car starts to overheat. If you have no power to the fan then trace the wore and see if you cant find the problem. If you have power then the fan motor is most likely bad.
