Hi there I have just the Summer working on a 93 impreza project and here is the deal the gear ratio for the axles from the Transaxle to the rear differeinal must match some times a .001 slower on the back is ok too. the dealers parts people need the #s on the Trans. and rear and year model etc. The rear on many of the Subarus has a type of limited slip in the carrier? so this can generate enough heat to start a fire in around 300 miles due to the way it is built, if the ratios are not matched, mine turned out to be a 3:90 rear and a 4:11 front on a all wheel drive and another rearend is in the mail now. My speed odmeter stop work, was told there no cable so it must be a fuse.

hi these models usually have speedo cables only the 93 onwards models have electronic so maybe the cable has broken or it has slipped out of the gearbox mount on the side where it takes its reading from so i would start by looking there

Subaru gearbox

Dear Customer,

Yes ,
you can do this with subaru, cause its genuine model for any type of any part modifications,

like Gearbox swap into place of 4.11 sti version 1

if you dont know how to work on a car, please refer to the trusty FSM (factory service manual). A subaru is simple enough that with $100 worth of hand tools you can do anything.
