The bite of the clutch is at the bottom just as you release the clutch it engage about a 1/2'' off the floor,if your at a red light the car will move forward sometimes with the clutch pedal push to floor. and it seems a little soft going into 2nd gear. is my clutch getting bad or does it need adjusting??
Neither
you need to replace the clutch master and slave cylinders or the cable
there is air in the system from failing slave cylinder

at a minimum the pressure plate but not changing everything while in there would be silly

hi considering age of car and that you have no leaks on hydraulics? may i suggest you try bleeding the clutch to rid of old fluid a couple of pumps may be suffice ? b/fluid does absorb moisture and heat over time hence recommendation tat fluid be changed at period specified in handbooks ie 12 monthly ?

SOURCE: How do I adjust the clutch? Clutch engages when
A high clutch pedal is good.
There should only be about a half inch of pedal freeplay, before you start to feel resistance.
So the clutch should not engage until it is almost fully released, near the top.
The makes shifting the easiest.
If the shifting is difficult when cold, then put the transmission in neutral and let the clutch out when you warm up the engine.
That will warm up the transmission oil.
Of course you could also check the transmission oil level and change it.
But your question makes me believe you may need more experience on a stick shift. Make sure you do the H pattern carefully, and do not get lazy and turn it into an X pattern.

SOURCE: shifter works when car is off, start car and then
The one item I would suspect is the through-out-bearing not completely
disengaging the pressure plate from the fly wheel. If the vehicle is in neutral
and you slowly depress the clutch and release it do hear a singing or whining
sound? Since you cannot adjust the clutch any more the through-out-bearing is
the component which moves the pressure plate from the fly wheel to stop the
power from the engine to the transmission. It is difficult to shift when the
engine is on because the fly wheel is still engaged and powering your transmission.
