2000 Audi A4 Quattro Passenger Side Power Window...

...stopped working. Only the passenger side. Not a big deal to me for now since winter is right around the corner, but still a future concern at the very least. Any ideas?

Ok you have either one of two main problems with it.
1. does it go in one direction only then jams the other way?
Ans. the plastic clips that hold the window to the lifting rail can break.
these can be replaced by removing the door trim & replacing though you will need torx type tools.
2. As with vw golfs & passets the motors pack up or even the wire can break on some of them.
Ans. replace the motor unit in the door or the cable & rail.

3. It is heardly heard tell of but the only other problem is that one of the wires in the hinge area to the door has broken.

4. we have had this one a few times but this would also include the interior lights & central locking not working as well as the windows.
The central convenience unit under the passenger foot well can go wonky & needs to be replaced, usually caused by water coming in through the heaters air filter when the water is trapped in the front of the car ( caused by rotten leaves stuck in the drain points & also happens to the A6 models )

2001 A4 Quattro Back Seat Passenger Side Door

There is a child lock on it. Open the door and look on the edge of the door, where it mates to the body when the door closes. There's a lever there that is labeled as the child lock. It'll show her which way to switch the lever to allow the door to be opened from inside the car.

I have a UK registed, Feb 2000 AUDI A6 2.7T QUATTRO AUTO ESTATE, Is it right that these are fitted with just one rear fog light that operates and the other is just for show.

Yes it's true. What I did on my US-spec A4 is to pull back the trunk lining on the passenger (right) side, where there is no functional foglight (my rear fog from the factory is on the left side). What I found was that the "bulb tree" has a fully powered socket for a bulb that would fit into a rear foglight on that side, but no bulb was installed. The part of the taillamp that would have a hole for such a fog bulb had a **** instead. I used a drill to widen the **** into a hole large enough for a bulb, and installed a bulb in the bulb tree, and voila - dual rear fogs:)

1996 Audi A4 quattro airbags install

The main thing with dealing with airbags is to ground yourself before plugging them in. Any electronics shop can sell you an ESD (electrostatic discharge) wrist strap and ground cord for a few dollars. Use this to ground yourself securely to the frame of the car. This gives a pathway for static electricity in your body to discharge into the car, rather than into the airbag connector, potentially blowing the airbags. All the same, whenever possible, don't sit in front of the bag you're installing in case something goes wrong and it does blow.
