Our 2004 GMC canyon will not start from time to time.

This doesnt happen all the time but twice we have attempted to start our canyon and it will not start. The motor turns, but will not start. All lights and other items work properly so the battery or altanator doesnt seem to be the issue. We can then wait for 15 to 20 minutes without starting the engine and it will then start and run normally.

Same problem: 2005 4cyl. 50K, stick. Cranks fine, no problem with lights, radio etc. Very frustrating. Wait a half hour or so and starts just fine. Only have had it happen after vehicle has set overnite or in the parking lot at work. Help!

Same problem, same vehicle. All I can do is let it sit for 20 minutes and then it starts again. Shop can’t figure it out because it won’t replicate for them

Could be any number of thing's . Engine management system sensors . Anything mentioned on here would be a guess . Having a qualified repair shop with the proper testing equipment viewing sensor scan data is the way to a fix . Not going by peoples guess . It could be a fuel system or ignition system prblem , engine sensor etc....

Takes year's to learn how to properly diagnose these systems . I have over thrity year's experience , thousand's of dollars of scan tools , diagnostic equipment etc... An ever year they come of with new stuff , I go to GM tech school 4 or 5 times a year .

I have the same issue with mine. The family owned shop I go to which has been in business for decades and the state trusts them with some of their vehicles, says they cannot diagnose the problem if they can’t replicate it. Not sure where to go from there given this happens maybe once every 1-2 months. Same solution is to let it sit for 15-20 minutes and then try again.

sell the truck and get one that does not have the security system that locks out the engine starting. I wish I could but I can't for a year or so.

My 2005 gmc canyon just started blowing smoke out tail pipe but it doesnt do it everytime i start it. is this bad?

Possibly a leak in the head gasket. Take out the plugs and see if they are water wet. Run a compression check.

2004 gmc canyon slow blinking lights

There isn't one. There's two fuses for the turn signals. The flashing is controlled by the Body Control Module.
