Have a leak under the dash and can't figure where it is coming from. Whenever it rains the passenger sides gets soaked, and it seems to be getting worse. Anyone else have this problem?
I had the same problem. There is a rubber section under the hood just above the heat vent. If this section falls off it allows water in through the heater. The section must be glued back into place. I had it done at an auto glass place.I had the same problem. There is a rubber section under the hood just above the heat vent. If this section falls off it allows water in through the heater. Wow. Had the same problem with my 2000 impalla. Resealed the rubber gasket to the metal frame, above the HVAC intake and under the black plastic covering, and that solved the problem for a while.
Now the leak continues from under the front passenger area leaking water onto the floor. However, Ive noticed water leaking from the HVAC blower from the inside only after the A/C compressor is turned on ie. defrost or cooling.
Any suggestions for tackling this problem? is there a water condensing hose that might be blocked or something... without having to remove the entire dashboard? Wow. There could be water filling in the HVAC intake located in front of the winshield. The drains may be clogged and not releasing rain water. Unfortunately the only way to resolve this problem is removing the entire dashboard and accessing the inner core of the HVAC system.
If you remove the cowl on the outside passenger side (at the bottom of the windshield) and underneath it the cabin air filter you can look down in with a flashlight to the squirrel cage on your blower motor for the hvac. you can see if there is any debris in there. drain for hvac is on the firewall. you could try blowing air through it with a compressor to see if it is clogged. had similar problem with 2000 impala.

I had similar on 02 Highlander. Source was leak from around window trim (rust) and roof racks connector entering and going down the windshield post behind the trim. Gently remove the interior plastic trim piece to the left of the windshield to see any water coming down there. Find source, disassemble whatever is required and use good sealant like supra expert.

There is a drain tube that clogs up. It is on the firewall under the hood on the passenger side. You have to access it from under the car. Use a stiff wire and clean it out. Sometimes you can clean it with a water hose and sprayer. Just don't put a lot of water in it. Spray a little, let it drain, Do this till you don't see any mold coming out. If it clears out and you still have water issues. Replace the heater core.
Check the front passenger side carpet and make sure it is dry. If it is wet, the heater core up under the dash is leaking, which is why you smell it in the cab.
The drain for your A/C may be clogged causing the water to accumulate. You should be able to locate the drain from under the vehicle on the pasenger side, perhaps there is an accumulation of debri such as leaves for example. Also, sunroof drain may also be blocked. I can say I have seen this problem before, and its a good place to start. Good luck
We see this often. There is a rubber bulb type molding (similar to a door or trunk seal) that is approximately 12" attached just above the fresh air intake that's in the firewall on the passenger side. Quite often this rubber part comes off and water is no longer diverted and instead pours directly through your cabin filter (if you have one) and into the right floorboard. To correct it, remove the right windshield wiper and right side of the lower windshield reveal molding (plastic cowling). Apply weatherstrip adhesive into the "U" shaped molding and re-apply into place directly above the cabin filter and fresh air intake. Replace the cowling and wiper. Good luck
It could be coming in through the rear door as the rubber might not be sealing properly the easiest way to find the leak is to remove your seats and carpet sit inside get someone to squirt the car round the doors and windscreen air vents.
