2002 ford Taurus .. My door mirror lights and done light are staying in or coming on randomly at night and draining my battery, what do I need to do? I have taken the fuse out that controls them but it also controls my windows do its not convenient because I live in a gated community and have to enter a gate code to get in

Check the door switches, you may have one that's shorted. If they are all OK, the BCM is causing the problem. Easiest and cheapest solution is to remove the bulbs from the lights that are always on. It means they will not operate and if you don't feel safe at night without them, its not an option for you, If it doesn't bother you one way or the other, remove the bulbs. This will stop your battery from draining, but the door ajar light on the dash will stay on all the time. If it bothers you, cover it up!

yea i have the sasme car and if its the same ,unplug your light controler to your head light if it go off change you your controler

have the battery load tested for a dead cell. Check that the battery posts and terminals are shiny clean and tight.

This sounds like a door switch problem. Seen of you have a push button switch in your door jam. They tend to go bad often on any car

Found that fuse for interior lamps. It's located in the smart junction box.

You have what is commonly called an "Ignition-Off Draw". Simply put, something is still on when you turn off your ignition and close all your doors. Aftermarket radios and accessories like remote start units and alarm systems can cause this. If you do not have any aftermarket equipment in your car, a very common problem is a glove box light or the lights in the vanity mirrors in the sun visors. If you cannot find anything obvious, then someone will have to connect an ammeter to your vehicle and start pulling fuses out to identify which main circuit the problem is located on. Once the main circuit is identified, then the sub-circuit can be determined by using the wiring diagrams as an aid. Once the sub-circuit is identified, then that circuit must be traced to find the actual source of the load that is killing your battery.

I am pretty sure it is the body control module. My 02 sable is currently having a similar issue. On a random day my girlfriend took the car to the store, the car started honking when she went to re-enter the vehicle. never done that before. Later that night the left front turn signal will not shut off. the turn signal light on the dash stays on solid, this morning the bright light indicator was on solid and the turn signals worked perfectly fine until the blinker light eventually went back to on all the time. I disconnect the battery at night or if I am not going to drive it for a few hours. But I am 99% certain it is the BCM causing this.

if your door ajar light stays on, spray some wd-40 into the latch and work it a few times. the sensors tend to get stuck and a little wd-40 (or other lubricant) frees it up pretty good. A simpler check would be to make sure that the over head lights are turned off on the dash!!!

what i think is you problem is the device attached the one door latch and need to be replaced for a new one,you can get them from the dealership and the are not expensive,this device is the one turn your lights on(interior) when you open de doors

Try spraying some wd40 into all the latch assy. most lickly its the drivers door(it gets used the most). If that doesnt work it could be in the wire harrness going from the body of the car to the door(drivers door most likely).
