SOURCE: clicking noise when trying to start car, battery is ok, wont start

That Clicking is the Battery causing it not to Start. You need to Replace that Battery or at Least put a Charger on it for a Couple of hours to see if you can Salvage it for a While.

SOURCE: 2005 chevrolet impala ignition swich

Even if you bypassed the switch, your steering would remain locked. In order to determine what is wrong with it, (other than the obvious) It will need to be taken apart. You will need a manual (such as Haynes, chilton etc) in order to do this safely and correctly.

SOURCE: 1995 Cavalier Z24 Car Wont Start

You either have a bad solenoid on your starter OR a bad ignition switch as these are the only two things that can cause the symptom you describe... I lean to the solenoid first, RARELY does an ignition switch sieze up in the start position but it is a possibility. Several national chain parts stores can test the starter for you (GM starters have the starter solenoid mounted directly to the starter and you need to remove the starter to get to it, so you would take the whole unit in to test it... REMEMBER to disconnect the battery first!)

SOURCE: just stopped running

ok,i need more info, lights work a]could you test your battery to see if it good probably 11.7 to 12.1 volts, you will need a voltmeter.b]when you crank it, you need to verify for sure if it has spark, feel like no spark or feeling no gas does not help, pull out a spark plug boot from the spark plug, insert a small screwdriver and keep the screwdriver metal 1/4 away from any good ground and then crank it,if you have spark you need to check for fuel, rent a fuel pressure gauge at autoparts store and check for fuel pressure and give us those numbers,if you do not have spark and fuel probably you need to change the ignition module,or ignition switch, but if you have spark andyou have fuel you need to check with a scanner the status of the crankshaft sensor to see if it recieving volts .let me know when you have some numbers,if for some reason you can not perform these test leave alone and pay a mechanic ,it does not worth it that you get hurt trying fixing something dangerous.keep me post it.

Just replaced timing chain and now no start.tries to start but never catches. plugs are wet

Sounds like the timing is off. Doubl echeck all your work to make sure all your timing marks are lined up correctly. You might try loosening the distributor and turn it slightly in both directions while someone sits in the car and turns the ingnition key. If your timing is only slightly off, this may get the engine started.

Timming chain noise

The noise your hearing is comming from an aluminum timeing chain guide on the drivers side of the timeing chain. My truck had the same problem. The noise first started when the engine was started and then within seconds went away. I drove it for about a year not knowing what the noise was comming from. A few weeks ago the noise got very loud and the truck stopped starting eventually. A few hours ago I pulled the front of the motor off to replace the timeing chain and my guid was broken right off and laying at the bottom of my oil pan. You can remove the two allen head bolts that hold this guide in place and run the vehicle without the guide. Problem solved and no more noise.

I have an 03 nissan altima engine makes loud clicking noise

1st check the the oil level and the vehicle's oil type.(owners manuel) 5w30-10w30
10w 30 is a thicker oil and could possibly be causing this.(Moves more freely through the engine heats the oil)

I have a 2003 Jetta. Me and my husband were driving down the road and the car died. We thought we were out of gas because the fuel light had come on before that, but when we stopped and tried to start the...

2003 jetta should have a chain not belt. if there is a large degree of angle from the crank to cam sensors, the ecm or computer will not enable the starter.when you say turn over ,does the starter make a noise and turn the engine, but the car will not start.....?low fuel can burn out an aged fuel pump, because it uses fuel to cool the pump.
have the fuel system pressure tested,or put gas in the throttle body.if it runs for a couple seconds, fuel pump is suspect.
if the engine is dead, you have to mechanically turn it over to see if it is seized.

97 cavalier was running but just stopped.

Question:
Did you replace the ignition switch or the KEY AND CYLINDER?

These are the only 2 things that can make your engine turn off when you release the ignition switch after starting the engine.

I hope this helps you.
