Check to make sure that the purple wire is hooked up to the S terminal on the starter solenoid.
SOURCE: clicking noise when trying to start car, battery is ok, wont start
That Clicking is the Battery causing it not to Start. You need to Replace that Battery or at Least put a Charger on it for a Couple of hours to see if you can Salvage it for a While.

Even if you bypassed the switch, your steering would remain locked. In order to determine what is wrong with it, (other than the obvious) It will need to be taken apart. You will need a manual (such as Haynes, chilton etc) in order to do this safely and correctly.

You either have a bad solenoid on your starter OR a bad ignition switch as these are the only two things that can cause the symptom you describe... I lean to the solenoid first, RARELY does an ignition switch sieze up in the start position but it is a possibility. Several national chain parts stores can test the starter for you (GM starters have the starter solenoid mounted directly to the starter and you need to remove the starter to get to it, so you would take the whole unit in to test it... REMEMBER to disconnect the battery first!)

ok,i need more info, lights work a]could you test your battery to see if it good probably 11.7 to 12.1 volts, you will need a voltmeter.b]when you crank it, you need to verify for sure if it has spark, feel like no spark or feeling no gas does not help, pull out a spark plug boot from the spark plug, insert a small screwdriver and keep the screwdriver metal 1/4 away from any good ground and then crank it,if you have spark you need to check for fuel, rent a fuel pressure gauge at autoparts store and check for fuel pressure and give us those numbers,if you do not have spark and fuel probably you need to change the ignition module,or ignition switch, but if you have spark andyou have fuel you need to check with a scanner the status of the crankshaft sensor to see if it recieving volts .let me know when you have some numbers,if for some reason you can not perform these test leave alone and pay a mechanic ,it does not worth it that you get hurt trying fixing something dangerous.keep me post it.
