I have a 2001 F 150 Ford Harley Davidson pickup with 51 thousand original miles on it, after taking it to the ford dealer for a recall on the cruise control it will not start all the time and shuts off when ever it feels like it ? any ideas ? I'm blue in the face talking to the dealership .. it has got me nowhere ...
Yes it can be the ignition, starter, wiring, short, ecu box is fried, etc etc etc. never take em to the dealer they mess things up just to get more money.

Look on the throttle body for a little cylinder with an electrical connector on it. Use the handle of screwdriver to give that a few whacks while someone starts the engine after it starts, give a few more whacks. Engine running now? Replace the Intake Air Control motor. or IAC.

How many miles on it? Do you mean overdrive? Over drive will clunk when shifting in cruise. Mine lasted 212,000 miles but I have heard of them going out after 120,000, depends how you drive. That Traney is good till it starts acting up then you will need a complete overhaul. I got it done for $1800. Do not go to a Ford dealer, they quoted me $3200.

ford had a recall for the cruise control you might want to take it to them and have them looked at it.... i took mine to them and they changed all kinds of stuff that was not broke but had been recalled

I had the same problem on mine - just check the end of the cruise control cable under the big plastic cover of the engine. good luck!

If you hear it knocking no bearing replacement is going to fix that long term. Its best to pull it, the crank shaft will have to be turned or polished and or replaced, weather its a rod or a maine, and posibly line boared if its a maine thats knocking. Do it right and pull it.

WHEN IT DOES START YOU CAN SEE WHAT ODOMETER READING IS ... IF THERE ARE DASHES INSTEAD OF NUMBERS IT WILL NOT START , ALSO I CAN HEAR A CLANK NOISE LIKE AS IF THE THEFT SYSTEM ENGAGES AND IS PREVENTING IT FROM STARTING
