Fuel injectors when to clean them - 2001 Lincoln Town Car

the rail on this engine, fuel rail like all , intake manifold injectors used;. all injector held down by both rails. left and right
now the steps to off them if is the job,
pull the isolator seen photo 1, far below.
1: pull left rail and right rail
Remove and discard the fuel injector retainer clips by installing EN-51097 injector retaining clip installer and spreading both sides of the clip evenly.
Always use NEW fuel injector collars supplied with injector when installing the new injector. If reinstalling the injector, it is not necessary to remove the collars unless the collars are being replaced.
Replace the injector seals as needed. Refer to Fuel Rail and Injectors Cleaning and Inspection.
Note
Inspect the injectors to be sure that they are clean and free of debris prior to installation. Do NOT lubricate the injector seals. Rebuild the fuel injectors whenever the injector has been removed from the fuel injector rail.

Note
Inspect the injectors to be sure that they are clean and free of debris prior to installation. Do NOT lubricate the injector seals. Rebuild the fuel injectors whenever the injector has been removed from the fuel injector rail.

1. Remove the fuel pump insulator. Fuel Pump Insulator Replacement
2. Remove the fuel injector intermediate pipe position?1. Fuel Feed Intermediate Pipe Replacement - Position 1
3. Clean the cylinder head pocket around the injectors of any dirt or buildup.
4. Disconnect the electrical wiring harness connectors from the fuel rail.
5. the fuel rail fasteners are retained in the fuel rail by keepers and may be difficult to remove.Remove the fuel rail fasteners?(1) securing the injector rail?(2).
   Install two sets of EN-49248 remover?(3).
6. Install one remover in each of the fuel rail fastener bores.
7. Remove by turning each section of the EN-49248 remover an even amount to pull the fuel rail and injectors out evenly.
8. CAUTION
9. Remove the fuel rail assembly carefully in order to prevent damage to the injector electrical connector terminals and the injector spray tips. Support the fuel rail after the fuel rail is removed in order to avoid damaging the fuel rail components.
10. Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering open pipes and passages.
11. 1. Simultaneously lift both ends of the fuel rail?(2) and remove the fuel rail assembly from the cylinder head.
12. Remove and DISCARD the fuel injector seals.
13. Some vehicles were not originally equipped with fuel injector dust seals. A NEW seal must be installed when the injectors are removed.
    Remove and DISCARD the fuel injector dust seal (1).
14. NOTE
    Note

That is a strange issue. Would you tell me more about how the injectors were cleaned? Were the injectors professionally cleaned? Exactly what did you do to clean them? Were the electrical connectors hard to remove or did the wires seem hard and overheated? Was the fuel rail stuck or hard to remove? Why did you decide to clean the fuel injectors? Was it a preventative maintenance or are you dealing with some type of drivability problem? You may want to look at the fuses. Maybe an unprotected wire shorted and blew an injector fuse. The fuel pump may be weak and fuel pressure needs to be confirmed. Did you notice a fuel leak or smell fuel? Please check your engine and fuses and write back. Good Luck.

You have to remove the fuel rail from the engine. Then you can pull out all of the fuel injectors to clean them. Most tune-up shops offer a fuel injection cleaning service that doesn't require removal of the injectors. If your car has high mileage, you can get some extremely good deals on brand new injectors from an on-line retailer, like Amazon.

You typically don't need to remove your fuel injectors to clean them. Have you tried using a really strong fuel injector cleaning product? Also if you go to any garage, they can use a machine to clean you injectors for you, it is a lot easier and less expensive (if you screw something up) than doing it yourself.

The plenum shouldn't be damp with gas. Is it a throttle body fuel injection system?

Could be a leaky injector.

Fuel Meter Body & Fuel Injectors (4.3L Engine) Removal & Installation 1995-2002 Models (RPO L35) To Remove:
4.3L (RPO L35) Fuel meter body assembly

1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Cautions and Warnings in the beginning of this section
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • Upper intake manifold (See: Upper Intake Manifold)
   • Fuel meter body
   • Injector retainer lock nuts (J) and retainer (K)
   NOTE: Use care in removing the fuel injectors to prevent damage to the electrical connector terminals. The fuel injector is serviced as a complete assembly only. Also since the injectors are electrical compartments, these injectors should not be immersed in any type of liquid solvent or cleaner as damage may occur. Fuel injector cleaning is not recommended.
   
3. While pulling the poppet nozzle tube downward, push with a small tip punch down between the injector terminals until the injector is removed

To Install:
4.3L (RPO L35) Fuel meter body assembly

Note: When ordering new fuel injectors, be sure to order the correct injector for the application being serviced.

1. Lubricate the new injector O-ring seals with clean engine oil.
2. Install or connect the following:
   • Fuel injector (L) into the fuel meter body injector socket
   • Retainer (K) and injector retainer lock nuts (J) and tighten the nuts
     1. Torque to: 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm)
   • Fuel meter body
   • Upper intake manifold (See: Upper Intake Manifold)
3. Test drive the vehicle to confirm the repairs.

Very detailed and car specific. There are at least three ways to do it. One is to take the injectors out of the truck and use a fuel injector solvent to clean them. Another way is to use a fuel additive to clean your injectors pour in your tank and off you go (do it at every oil change) Another way is to hook your car up to a fuel injection cleaning machine. It essentially by passes your gas tank and connects directly to your injectors to clean them with your engine running.
