Recently replaced head gasket and serviced head and injectors on nissan terrano turbo TD27. had fuel lines mixed at initial start up but beleive we sorted this problem. Now runs much better but has audible diesel knock like pinging? have not moved fuel pump as is gear driven not belt timed. could it still have fuel lines wrong, engine idles very sweet but blows white smoke on acceleration and load and lacks alittle power. No missfire when driving but very hard to start sometimes.
Some black smoke comes out when i put foot down and loses power when goiong uphill i have a nissan mistral/terrano 2.7td
I had the same problem with the overheating thing, i took the car to the radiator cleaners and that fixed the overheating issue.
Did you get the head skimmed before putting it back together with new gasket on ? If not the head is warped and the new gasket will not work

I have been having the same problem and am considering both the fuel pump governor, the fuel cut off valve and the mass air sensor. The glitchy ecu on these cars does not help the diagnosis.
