I was driving to work and the battery light came on, when I slowed down the RPM went down and the car died. The lights were dim and and I tried to stars the car again but the starter wont turn. I knew that the battery was dead. I brought a new fully charged battery started My lexus and drove home on it and when I came home the battery was low on charge. I checked the alternator it was making 14v, I disconnected the battery while the car was runing and it kept runing. If the alternator was bad the car would die. I checked all fuses and they all good. I dont know what can it be, please help.

either your alternator has gone or your fan belt is not there which helps the alternator to charge the battery get a volt meter on your alternator to see if it is kicking out what it should be

How long did the 2nd alt. last before it died? The voltage regulator is, I believe, attached to the alternator. Have u had the voltage regulator checked?

Your PCM controls the alternator and could be the problem. Get the car started and check the voltage at the battery. It should be steady and above 14 volts. If below 14 volts or jumping around, suspect the PCM or perhaps wiring issue. Especially check the connector at the alternator. Take it off and look at both sides for bent pins or loose terminals. Also look over the cable/fusible link from the alternator to the battery. If it shows any lack of stiffness along it's length, suspect an intermittent open and check with a ohmmeter. If you have questions, please let me know.
