1986 s10 blazer 2-door 4WD, won't start

When i turn the key I hear a "click" from the ignition, but it doesnt turn the starter. The truck has a new starter, and at one point had a alarm system. When we bought the truck the previous owners removed parts of the alarm leaving behind a mess of wires, but the truck still ran. Now when i go out and try to start the truck, all i hear is the formentioned click. I might also point out that the headlights work, but electronics connected to the iginition do not (radio, blinkers, door alarm).
thanks for your help

2005 Blazer key won't turn in the ignition

You may want to try to slightly push / pull your vehicle to take weight / tension off the transmission, which in turn will allow you to turn the steering wheel enough to see if the ignition switch can be turned.

97 chevy s10 wont start

Then the problem is likely the ignition switch, or the neutral safety switch. Try jamming it into park a couple of times to see if it helps. If it does, you will need to change the neutral safety. If it doesnt, probably going to need an ignition switch. Those trucks, jimmys, and blazers are famous for ignition switch problems.

Check your ignition switch (located on the steering column under the dash) If this is working, you will hear an electronic switch click when you turn the key on - if you do hear it then replace your starter

The humming noise you hear is the fuel pump. It is probably your starter soleniod. If you hear an electric click under the dash near the steering column when you turn the key then the ignition switch is ok and your starter needs to be replaced. This happened to me last month.

How to change 4 wd motor(actuator) 1997 s10

Before changing the actuator check the vacuum lines at the vacuum switch on the left side of the transer case if they are wet with transmission fluid the the switch is bad and that will prevent 4wd from engaging.

1986 ford bronco 2 4wd wont turn over and clicks

Check the starter solenoid on the passenger side near the battery under the hood, the small terminal is the lead from the ignition switch, when the key is held in the start position there should be 12 volts at that terminal.. the wire to that terminal just pushes on.

Took battery out of 1986 s10 blazer, put new battery in no radio,

Do you hear any clicks when you turn the key to start. If you do, that is the starter solenoid trying to connect
the starter to the battery in order to crank the engine. This is a strong indication that the starter is bad
No clicks means the starter solenoid is A.) not getting any voltage from the ignition switch or B.) bad.
If it were my car I would remove the starter and solenoid (they are connected together) and take it to an
Auto Zone type store and have them check it out for you. They have the equipment to do that. Be sure to remove
the ground lead (the black one) from the battery before you remove the starter.

Th remove the starter disconnect the 2 wires going to the lugs on the starter and there are usually 2 bolto
holding the starter top the engine. Remove the bottom one first and then the top one, It helps if you have
someone to hold the starter while you remove the top bolt. The started is kind of heavy

Hope this helps Good Luck Loringh PS Please leave a rating if appropriate Thanks
