The car has 28,800 miles on it, yes that is the correct miles for the 1989 corscia, its the 2.8l automatic. it does not run hot, it will idle and when you put it in gear it cuts off. i crank the car back up and take off, when i slow down it starts to act like it wants to stall then it dont til i stop at a stop sign or redlight, then i will start it back up and go again, i dont understand why it keeps cutting off but will idle. please help. thank
It's your TCC solenoid. If staring at the engine from the front bumper, it's connector is located right side nearest the front bumper right below the air filter case, unplug it and done. If the solenoid is failed then once the vehicle is warmed up it will shut down and run rough till it's cooled down. I know because of my 89 2.8l v6 Corsica had the same issue and unplugged it myself at 119,000 and still driving 3 years later with 130,000. Very few people realize this solenoid is there and mechanics over look it every time.
