When I switch the heat/cold control to cold, the door will switch back to hot on its own. Sometimes it will stay cold for a while, then switch, even when not moving. I thought that maybe something could be blocking the door, but it is so random. I have tried different control and different switching motor. This new motor has been better, but stil is doing the same thing, just less often than the old one, and will stay on the cold for longer runs than the old motor. The old motor I think went completely bad because of triing to switch it so many times.

if you are sure that your heater core is not restricted. then try to recalibrate the climate control panel. if your a/c system is not working then DO NOT ATTEMPT THE RECALIBRATION it will make your lights on climate control panel flash codes forever.
to reclaibrate the climate control panel just have the engine running. turn the mode to vent, the temp to cold, the blower on high, then press and hold the rear wiper wash and wiper buttons at the same time until the panel lights up then wait about 2 minutes for it to run completly when completed. turn off ignition and then restart the engine try to se if you have heat again. if it doesntwork post the codes it gives you after the calibration test.

SOURCE: AC/heater vent only blow out hot air
that switch controls a vacuum operated door that lets a/c or heat thru.when accelerating, the vacuum in the engine changes so it sound like a vacuum issue.take apart the center stack and there is a vacuum actuator in there connected to the flap door .i have seen those have issues with the metal tab broken away from the plastic that moves it.is the a/c piping cold under the hood where it goes into the heater a/c assembly?the compressor should be cycling on and off and the pressure tested.

. Open the gloves compartment (gc) . remove 2 rubber pieces that keep the gc on its place (both sides) . look to the left side. there is a connector with a few thin colored hoses. This thin hoses are there to control the operation of the blend air door. It is vacuum operated. . now follow the thinnest hose, probably it is green, all the way to the right. It connects in a sort of vacuum valve that control the position of the blend air door. make sure it is firmly attached to it. also check that hoses connector to ensure that all thin hoses are well connected. . OK! start the motor and operate the knob on the panel. It should work fine now.
