i think your problem is the heater motor ,its worn out and need replacing as the bearings are dry or its come loose and its hitting the casing with the fan

no you dont

pull down the flat plate in the roof consul,then using the allen key in the tools supplied,wind it back/forward to open/close.

The exact replacement instructions are:
* Remove cover
* Cut hole in headlinging
* Remove motor

Go to an auto supply store like PEP boys or Advance Auto, etc., and buy a Haynes Repair Manual for the 740. You may be able to consult one at your local library for free. Even if it doesn't cover your model year, the replacement instructions are pretty much the same for all years. in fact even a 240 Volvo manual would be essentially the same. Pay particular attention to the installation instructions....you have to slide the pump on, and then rotate it a few degrees clockwise to make the upper o-ring seal. Good luck!

Replace your brake light switch,also just replace the brake light fuse,sometimes they can have an very small crack in it,they you cant see.

Check you're ground.

the 4 cly is agood engine but the trans costs alot to replace but for free you can drive the car till it dies then scrap it and make a couple bucks
