Question about 2003 Buick Century

1 Answer

My airconditioning was on and then started making a loud noise

Have a dual control airconditioning and heataer in my 2003 buick century. When I had the a/c running on maximum blast yesterday, it started making a loud noise. When I turned a/c off the noise stopped, but when I turned a/c on again it started making that same loud clicking noise almost like a belt was broken. The a/c still works and gives off cool and cold air, but the noise when it is on is very annoying.

FROM YOUR DESCRIPTION IT SOUNDS LIKE THE A/C CLUTCH ON YOUR COMPRESSOR IS GOING BAD. U EITHER HAVE TO GET CLUTCH REPLACED BY EXPERIENCED COMPRESSOR REBUILDER OR REPLACE COMPRESSOR AS A WHOLE

It sounds like a actuator is bad or not getting proper vacuum to open or close on demand.

SOURCE: 1998 Buick Century Air Conditioner not blowing out cold air

Under the dash behind the glove box(remove glove box)there is a vacuum connector with multiple vacuum lines of different colors, held in by a small nut on a long stud.Carefully remove the nut,and the vacuum connector, spray silicon spray into the vacuum lines, male and female ports.Replace the vacuum line connector back on.Also look for a vacuum line on passenger side of vehicle, near the firewall, and check the small check valve on the vacuum line and the vacuum line itself for sucking together, and breakage. If all this is o k,and the spray didn`t work, the control head for the temp control is not good

The check engine light is blinking on my buick century 2003 and the engine is making a noise

If your check engine light is blinking it is trying to tell you that there is something wrong with your engine and/or engine control system that needs IMMEDIATE ATTENTION to prevent SEVERE DAMMAGE to your engine or your catalytic converters.

My recommendation is to STOP OPERATING THE VEHICLE and get it towed somewhere so it can be properly diagnosed and repaired.

Heat is stuck on on driver's side/dual control/2003 Buick Century

You will need to replace the control cluster. It's pretty simple, two screws down behind ashtray and pull the plastic cover off. Two more screws and the cluster comes off. Undo the wire harness and the cluster is out. You can get a different cluster at a salvage yard got about 15 bucks.
